GOP Senate Campaign Arm Is Pulling Ads in Three Key Races
News.yahoo.com ^ | 8/15/22 | Ryan Bort

The National Republican Senatorial Committee is canceling $10 million worth of fall advertising reservations in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin — three states at the center of the GOP’s push to regain control of Congress. The New York Times, which reported the news on Monday, notes Republicans have been struggling to raise money as of late, as well as that the decision to pull ads for some of its top candidates could be tied to the party’s financial troubles.

The NRSC has cut the most money, $5 million, in Pennsylvania, where quack TV doctor Mehmet Oz is taking on Lt. Governor John Fetterman. Oz’s campaign has been fraught, to say the least, and current polling averages currently have him losing to the Democrat by more than 10 percentage points. Oz narrowly edged out David McCormick in the state’s Republican primary behind the strength of former President Donald Trump’s endorsement. Members of the Republican establishment, and even Trump’s circle, had lined up to back McCormick for fear that Oz couldn’t beat Fetterman.

The committee also cut more than $2 million in both Arizona, where Trump-backed Blake Masters is up against incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly, and Wisconsin, where incumbent Republican Sen. Ron Johnson is trying to fend off rising Democratic star Mandela Barnes, who won his primary last week. Polling averages have Masters trailing Kelly by more 10 points. There isn’t much polling for the matchup between Johnson and Barnes, but the race is expected to be a close one, making the NRSC’s move to cut bait — at least $2 million worth of it — all the more surprising.

He probably has some good internals. Kelly’s ads are vicious. Just like Karrin Robson. The thing Blake has going for him is Kari will really up the turnout.

A Senate majority for the Dems means that mediocrities like
McConnell and Thune retain their power.

Yep, Fetterman had major problems speaking when he finally made a public appearance, pauses when trying to speak, repeating words and showed little energy. ABC had a story that said his supporters were worried (although those interviewed said they would still vote for him).

Oz can still pull this out, especially if he can get Fetterman to debate. And if Fetterman won’t debate, Oz can use that as a weapon.

Trump and DeSantis need to step in with their magic... better than cash.

Don’t know the WI numbers.

Johnson and Barnes appear to be polling dead-even. Why pull funding from such a close race?

The election is three months away. This is normal and good tactics at this point the money is better spent elsewhere.

Here’s the tell Kelly in Az doesn’t have a chance. Neither does the pos running against Johnson in Wisconsin and Shrek is getting pummeled by Oz and can’t fight back because like the other two he is wrong on every issue.

Scaring you and getting you to take your eyes off the ball is just what the New York Times wants. Don’t give it to them.

Mitch has already conceded the Senate because he does not want us to win.

This political party is not one I wish to support.

We needed to dump this turkey a long time ago.

No, the funding is being cut for MAGA candidates trailing their opponents by more than 10%.

The funding is being pulled from MAGA candidates in states that Trump won in 2016 but lost in 2020 (Walker has probably never received NRSC funding to begin with).

Why?

To discourage Trump from running, of course.

The thinking goes, if his hand-picked candidates lose in these crucial swing states, maybe he’ll read the tea leaves and sit out ‘24.

Notice, they’ve not pulled funding from J.D. Vance. Trump won Ohio in 2020.

I agree. The MAGA team can put Oz on top.

Tie Fetterman to Biden and let him sink like a rock.

And the GOP is going to support a third-party Liz Cheney run for POTUS if Trump is the nominee, bank on it!

Good points, all. Someone made the point that Tom Cotton was down 10 points to Pryor in the Arkansas Senate election in 2016. The day before the election, the polls showed Pryor up by two. Election Day, Cotton beat Pryor by 17 points.

The GOP is basically the same as the Dem party, except better dressed.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Which is why I and countless other Trump voters urged him to establish a true SECOND political party for his 80+ million supporters following the stolen election. Of course he refused and now if he’s a candidate in 2024 the Uniparty RINOs will do everything they possibly can to see that he’s defeated.

The GOP stands for nothing, everybody knows it, when a man (by no means a Republican) was elected President to burnish their tired brand, they did everything they could to frustrate him and eventually to get him out since his goals were diametrically opposed to core GOP values.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Exactly right. There are no more rabid Trump haters on the planet than those found in the GOP!
