A legal filing by a Black firefighter in western New York alleges he was pressured by a superior into going to a party that contained racist imagery...

Jones, a 14-year department veteran, became uneasy when he arrived at the house and saw a cardboard cutout figure of former President Donald Trump...

Jones said he then saw a display mocking the Juneteenth holiday... , with Juneteenth flags displayed over buckets of fried chicken.

Stupid name for an absolutely meaningless "event", mocked up into a holiday for the sole purpose of insulting White people. If the promoters of "junetenth" were honest, they would be celebrating the hundreds of thousands of White soldiers who were killed and the millions of White soldiers who were maimed buying freedom for black people.

They didn't do it for that reason. The Northern armies marched into the South to kill people, not for freedom for the black man, but to establish the dominance of the corrupt government of Washington DC over these states.

The notion that they were going to free the slaves didn't come about until nearly two years after the war started.

"Freeing slaves" in conjunction with the civil war is just propaganda intended to distort the real reason why they invaded, which was entirely economic in nature.

A better holiday would be 'Pomatix Day, when the Civil War ended and all the slaves were free at last, despite some political haggling in the aftermath.

The Northern slaves did not get free that day. They had to wait another 8 months (December of 1860) to become free.

Yes, the Union had slavery for 8 months after they abolished it in the Southern states.

Juneteenth which celebrates Republicans freeing Democrat owned slaves.
A Trump sign SHOULD be displayed for that.

Why would an adult man become ‘uneasy’ upon seeing a cardboard Donald Trump? And I guess, from the looks of things a new ‘crime’ has been created—blasphemy. Thou shalt not mock black holidays.

Thank you for the reply. I’m aware that you’re a southern partisan, and quite vocally so. That’s OK ... I’ve read many of your comments over the years; agree with some, disagree with some, find other rather ambiguous. Whatever sins the Union side may have committed, it remains a historical fact that slavery was abolished as a consequence of the “Late Unpleasantness”, and that many White soldiers lost life or limb making the abolition of slavery possible. If one is going to celebrate the abolition of slavery, it is those White soldiers who should be celebrated. The proponents of “juneteenth” don’t do that. Quite the contrary, in fact.

The offense was turning “juneteenth” into a national holiday.

The execution of 2 communist traitors on June 19, 1953 - the ONLY reason to celebrate June 19

Yep, it's a joke, it should be mocked and nobody should get in trouble by the speech police.

If it wasn’t for the Emancipation Proclamation ( January 1, 1863 ), Juneteenth wouldn’t exist.

Truth partisan. Accuracy partisan. Objectivity partisan. Not a "southern partisan". I have no connection to the South. I'm not from the South and neither is my family which didn't get here until the 1900s.

it remains a historical fact that slavery was abolished as a consequence of the “Late Unpleasantness”,

Well that is true, but it created a situation in which slavery expanded throughout the entire United States. It established federal dominance of us all, and it has forced stuff like "gay marriage" and abortion down our throats.

Freedom didn't win that day in April of 1865, it lost. The Federal leviathan now controls so much of our lives and it takes our money against our will to use it for things we hate and abhor.

If one is going to celebrate the abolition of slavery, it is those White soldiers who should be celebrated.

No they shouldn't, because they didn't march into the South to kill people because they wanted to see black men freed. They marched into the South to kill people because the Southern states decided to leave the control of that corrupt government which is still abusing us today.

They were agents of that corrupt evil, and though they caused one good thing to happen, this was not their intent, and so they should not get any credit for doing this good thing when their intent was to do a very bad thing.

Mens rea.

As I said, regarding your posted opinions: I agree with some things, disagree with some things, and find others ambiguous. In any case, I consider “juneteenth” a garbage holiday, and reject it utterly.

Just out of curiosity, what things have I said that you regard as "ambiguous."

I try to be as clear as I am able.

The rats can’t afford to let racism die because it is their stock and trade. As long as the rats benefit from racial division they will continue. I bet we hear increased talk of reparations as the November elections get closer. Talk of doling out Biden’s “stash” will run rampant in the minority community. To cash in all you got to do is vote RAT!

I have been reading your output for considerable time, so I don’t recall specifics at the moment. Maybe next time I see an example, I’ll point it out to you for clarification.

My purpose in this thread is very narrow: to reject the “juneteenth” holiday and ideology. If it is to be celebrated at all (it shouldn’t be, IMO) it should be directed toward those who risked (or lost) life or limb to end slavery. It is not, therefore it is garbage.

“Delaware and Kentucky rejected all efforts by the Union to end slavery, and these two border states firmly rejected the 13th Amendment.1 As a result, slavery remained perfectly legal in both states for another six months after Juneteenth, until the secretary of state certified that the 13th Amendment had been ratified by enough states to become law throughout the U.S.”

And that wasn't even the end of it. Tribal slaves still existed, as the "Indian Territories" weren't recognized as fully Federal territories, therefore the 13th didn't apply to them. So their slaves weren't forced free until these US could make treaties with the tribes forcing them to release their slaves as well. To my knowledge, the final one was the Creek, as of 1866 June 14.

So, as unintentional as it was, June would be the correct month!

HISTORY: Not all slaves were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation, nor via Juneteenth. Only the slaves of the REBEL states were freed then. Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation was a wartime effort to split and weaken the South; he did NOT free any slaves in the Northern states. Slaves in the non-rebelling border states had to wait for the 13th Amendment, effective December 18, 1865.
