India elected a female leader of country (Prime minister) in 1966. Britain had Margaret Thatcher first female prime minister in 1979 and served 3 terms (longest of any other prime minister). Kamala is no Margaret Thatcher.

It’s a great place to look over the passengers and arrange a marriage with one of them for their child.

It could well be that women in India act instead of complain.

I know some women pilots and they are truly excellent.
There are many career paths available to women in the US, and whether or not to pursue an aviation career (assuming basic qualifications) is really just self-selection, not victimhood.
There exists a shortage of ATP (airline) pilots, and physically and mentally qualified would be encouraged to start building hours to see if this is for them. (Sky's the limit.)

Airline pilot: high stress job that you can’t make mistakes doing. And when failures occur you have to fix things right then and there. Death is a real possible outcome not handling things properly.
As a group women do not like such jobs. More so now modern women.

Traditionally, the route to being an airline pilot led through building hours in the military. Traditionally military pilots were primarily male.

Someone who failed basic math is asking this question. That is like saying why is the average US state three times the size of the average state in India?

Where do Indian pilots come from? I ask because a lot of US pilots come from the military, which for a long time has been primarily male. Those coming from private training are competing against military pilots with a decade of experience. If pilots in India come from private schools or airline training then you don’t have the military sex difference.

Yup, not worried about this.
Don’t know if they’re comparing apples to apples. Didn’t read. % is more important than absolute number.
Either way, it is not because of oppression. It’s because people do what they want to do. I guess not many women here (despite the real “diversity” of races) want to fly big planes.
This is my whole problem with the entire “discrimination” argument that we NEED more X and Y and Z - it’s not discrimination on the back end, it’s on the front end. Are we supposed to force these groups into doing things? Guns to their heads that they MUST do these jobs?
Just let it be and accept it.
