The writer missed a great opportunity to use the much maligned but favored term "assault rifle".
Something similar for me flying from Seattle to San Diego.
I headed back to my aisle seat and saw that a man was sitting in it. I said nothing and made my way to the front to ask the stewardess if she would help. She checked our boarding passes and told him to move to the middle seat — his assigned seat. He was belligerent but finally did.
I sat down. He did maximum man-spreading, and his knee was in the middle of my space. The guy across the aisle called the stewardess and she told my seatmate to stop. Then it got interesting when he said something that was borderline threat. We were still on the ground.
I guess she considered it more than borderline ‘cause she went and got the pilot. The pilot said the guy had choices. Behave. Be arrested in Seattle. Be handcuffed for the flight and be arrested in San Diego. (Do they even have handcuffs?)
He calmed down, but the stewardess still moved me up to a better aisle seat — but not first class.
These Federali’s think they’re Hot Stuff and don’t have to respond to local LE.....
I agree. I seriously doubt he was a Federal Air Marshal.
Article says he wasn’t. He was a pilot that was authorized to have a gun in the cockpit. Those things are kept in a locked case and only taken out if someone is breaching the cockpit.
Suicide by cop or so damn drunk he had no idea what he was doing. And to think that he was flying people around.
Either way.....Oh Well!!
Thanks.
They would have killed him if he wasn’t suicidal. Killing people is what cops do. And they do it well.
I’m retired from the airlines.
(first officer)
You would be mortified as a passenger knowing what I know as far as what goes on regularly on the flight deck!🤫
I avoid flying commercial if at all possible!
If he was a FED, good enough.
