Russia, Belarus military bases rocked by fire, explosions days after Crimea air base sees destructive blasts

Military bases in Russia and Belarus were rocked by an outbreak in fires and explosions Thursday, just days after a Russian airbase in Crimea saw explosions that wiped out nine warplanes.

Russian media reported that a military housing unit was ablaze in town outside of Moscow early Thursday but did not provide information on how the fire broke out.

The Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Moscow Region reportedly said the fire took more than 35 men to distinguish after they found smoke billowing from under the roof.

"The fire has now been extinguished, there is no information about the victims," one source told Russian state news agency Tass.

A Belarusian news agency similarly reported that were several explosions early Thursday at the Ziabrauka airfield in Belarus’ southern Gomel region which shares a border with Ukraine and where Belarusian troops have been checked for "combat readiness."

The Belarus Ministry of Defense said that some military equipment caught fire following a late Wednesday night inspection, reported Kyiv Independent.

An advisor to Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, took to Twitter to say that at least eight explosions took place near the airbase which is "used by Russian aviation in the war against Ukraine."

"So far, there is no confirmation if these explosions are connected to any military drills conducted by the Russian and Belarus armies on Belarus territory," the advisor, Franak Viačorka, added.

The simultaneous fires come just days after explosions rocked a Russian airbase in occupied Crimea, destroying at least nine combat planes.

"In just one day, the occupiers lost ten combat aircraft: nine in Crimea and one more in the direction of Zaporizhzhia," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his nightly address Wednesday. "The occupiers also suffer new losses of armored vehicles, warehouses with ammunition, logistics routes."

If Ukraine used US supplied weapons (HIMARS) to attack another country...

That’s how world wars start.

Remember that.

This looks like more guerilla style sabotage by Ukie ground forces. The Ukies are like our Swamp Fox. And we won that war against the British occupiers.

Francis Marion (c. 1732 – February 27, 1795),[1] also known as the Swamp Fox, was a military officer who served in the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783). Acting with the Continental Army and South Carolina militia commissions, he was a persistent adversary of the British in their occupation of South Carolina and Charleston in 1780 and 1781, even after the Continental Army was driven out of the state in the Battle of Camden. Marion never commanded a large army or led a major battle.[1] He used irregular methods of warfare and is considered[by whom?] one of the fathers of modern guerrilla warfare and maneuver warfare, and is credited[further explanation needed] in the lineage of U.S. Army Rangers and the 75th Ranger Regiment.

The Russkies are like the Chinese. They bitch and threaten but don’t actually do anything. We already crossed all of Russia’s red lines from the very start when he said he would retaliate in catastrophic and historic ways if we “interfered” in Ukraine. I recall we were waiting on mass cyberattacks to occur, but as it turned out, the Russkies can’t even do that. The cyberattacks in Ukraine were traced back to the Chinese government. And all they do is Ddos.

“That’s some cool history. I didn’t know about Francis Marion. I will have to read up on him.”

Disney had a series on him in the 50s or 60s (I watched it)
“The Magical World of Disney” The Swamp Fox: The Birth ...… (8GB torrent if you do this kind of stuff)

Based on the exploits of South Carolina guerrilla leader Francis Marion, also known as The Swamp Fox. The series starred Leslie Nielsen as Francis Marion. …

I believe Belarus is more of a dictatorship than Russia, so I’m not sure how much their leader can be influenced.

Still, this is a smart move by Ukraine. Make the people of Belarus feel the pain of the war. Make their citizens question why they are in this war.

If Russia wants to start a war with NATO then GET ON WITH IT! Six months of threats and no action makes Russia look pathetic and dickless...which they are.

Also, it’s about time your prick Russian friends felt the same pain they inflict on others. I hope the Ukrainians kill more Russians in their cities, workplaces, and homes.

Why should Ukrainians have to be the only ones to suffer?

“The epidemic of technical accidents at military airfields of Crimea and Belarus should be considered by Russia military as a warning: forget about Ukraine, take off the uniform and leave,” he (Mykhailo Podolyak) said in a tweet. “Neither in occupied Crimea nor in occupied Belarus will you feel safe.

Karma finds you anywhere.”

Ziabrauka airfield in Belarus’ southern Gomel region is within range of regular HIMARS rockets from Ukrainian held territory (almost directly North of Kiev, a little over the border).

The airfield had been previously reported to have been turned over to Russian forces, and they had fired missiles into the Ukraine from there in recent weeks.

I have not heard what kind of aircraft they were operating out of there.

It is a likely place from which Russian forces might launch retaliatory attacks on Kiev, after the fiasco in Crimea.

Poking the bear is not how you live next to the bear. Kill him or leave him be, and we don’t need to be killin’ anymore folks than our own babies right now. It’s a big enough log in the eye.

Very nice. Let me inject some sound reasoning to your emotional statement:

“Make the people of America feel the pain of the war. Make their citizens question why they are in this war.”… doesn’t sound very appealing does it?

You Ukie war cheerleaders never cease to amaze me, war, war, war… it always pays to see how the shoe fits on the other foot, careful what you wish for.

No it doesn't, but if I was the citizen of a country being attacked by the United States in a war that's what I would do.

War is a horrible experience and a horrible act to commit. No country, including the United States, that attacks another one should be immune to feeling the consequences of their act.
