Data: Liz Cheney’s Plan to Win GOP Primary with Democrat Votes Is Failing

Republican voter registration numbers in Wyoming have grown by a small margin as Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) invited Democrats to change parties to vote in the open Republican primary on August 16, while Democrat voter registration numbers have shrunk. The numbers suggest a slight migration of Democrats to Cheney’s cause, but not nearly at the scale needed for her to overcome the margin by which she currently trails in the primary.

According to the data, registered Republicans in Wyoming have increased by 11,495 from January to August this year. The number of registered Democrats, on the other hand, has shrunk by 6,069 in the same period. Unaffiliated voters have also shrunk by 1,575. In total, the state has gained 3,816 more registered since January. These statistics come from the Wyoming Secretary of State’s regular reports on the numbers of registered voters in the state.

Technically, Wyoming law states that voters must be affiliated with a particular party to vote in that party’s primary election–but voters can change their party registration on primary Election Day or any time leading up to it. In other words, it is essentially an open primary. This means that a few thousand Democrat and unaffiliated voters may have changed party affiliations to vote for Cheney, as she is openly encouraging, but Wyoming Democrat Party chairman Joseph Barbuto said he believes the migration will not be nearly effective enough to save her.

No we’re stuck with her until January.

she’s even criticizing DeSantis now.

Wonder what state she’ll move to so she can run as a democrat in the future.

Liz, start packing your office to move on to your upcoming gig on K Street or on MSNBC. Maybe she’ll land a guest spot on The View.

Maybe she should get Merrick Garland and Christopher Wray to endorse her.

"Wyoming law states that voters must be affiliated with a particular party to vote in that party’s primary election–but voters can change their party registration on primary Election Day or any time leading up to it. In other words, it is essentially an open primary."

Wyoming is not unique in this area, though other states with ostensibly "closed" primaries may have different deadline for party-switching.

The folks who concern themselves with "Open or closed primary??!11??" or "ALL PRIMARIES SHOULD BE CLOAZED!!" may as well finally begin to understand that the bolded part above applies to EVERY state now.

There is effectively no such thing as a closed primary anymore, anywhere. But in this particular case, the open-ness of the primary isn't going to save Cheney's RINO ass no matter how much she is desperately begging for the votes of liberals of both parties.

In other states however, Democrat infiltration of Republican primaries can -- and already has -- had significant effects even if those effects didn't completely alter the outcome.

With the FIB’s invasion of Trump’s home in Fl. the conservative voters in Wyoming will be further riled up to sink Dizzy Lizzy with gusto.

This is a story written solely to meet a posting deadline.
Those who hate Trump so much that they want Lizard to win please understand you are making a fool of yourself if you keep saying “So you’re saying there’s a chance.

There is no chance PERIOD. Democrats hate Trump so they will vote for Lizard. Republicans hate Lizard and love Trump in Wyoming.

Republicans out number rodents 3 to 1. Independents are somewhat split which is bad news for Lizard. Case closed.

Lizard is unemployed in January.

I don’t think there will be enough Rats that will cross over. It’s not as simple as doing it without registering. And that takes time and effort. Most of them will probably just say forget it.

I’ve been watching the numbers all year, and voters have been abandoning the Dem party steadily since at least January in Wyoming. So there’s no evidence that her effort is changing the trajectory at all.

The checkers moves in a game of chess on the part of Liz and Dick Cheney shows their love of self and disdain of the American voter quite clearly. It’s all about themselves and their Beltway rigging that holds them up.

She’ll be retiring (getting retired) early, so she can spend time with her family, namely Dick Cheney.

I think her abhorrent statements and conduct was going to get her some sort of state department or ambassador job as a reward. I think she found out now that she’s too toxic for either party now. I think we saw and heard way too much of her on matters that in no way reflected her constituents of either party in the state of Wyoming.

Soon to be followed with "Former Presidential Candidate".

Santorum has milked that gig for millions: speaking engagements, book deals, media contracts.

Assume nothing.

Another article relayed (as predicted) ads are being run attacking Hageman, but also attacking Cheney herself, in an effort to split the opposition vote to another primary opponent. They know they can’t win by getting anyone to change their mind to vote for Cheney, so dividing the opposition is the only way she could possibly win.
