Russia Stops Oil Flowing Through Pipeline to Central, Eastern Europe (Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia)
WSJ ^ | 09-AUG-2022 | Joe Wallace

Russian oil has stopped flowing through a pipeline that feeds countries in Central and Eastern Europe, dealing another blow to a region contending with the loss of vital energy supplies from Russia.

Transneft PJSC, the government-owned oil-pipeline operator, said Tuesday that crude exports through Ukrainian territory had halted on Aug. 4. It blamed payment difficulties caused by Western sanctions on Moscow and said Ukraine’s pipeline operator had declined to carry crude after it didn’t receive funds.

A spokeswoman for Naftogaz NJSC, Ukraine’s state energy firm and the parent company of pipeline operator Ukrtransnafta, said it would issue a statement later Tuesday.

Title is misleading
Ukraine stopped the oil from a Russian pipeline
Not Russia

Does it matter WHO stopped the oil? As long as the Euro-Weenies and Euro-Trash are suffering. They made this mess let them wallow in it.

Re: “Does it matter WHO stopped the oil? As long as the Euro-Weenies and Euro-Trash are suffering. They made this mess let them wallow in it.”

Actually, they didn’t. The thing is, the Europeans are not allowed to manage these things. If they try, we sabotage their efforts. After the events of 2014 (to put as neutral a point on it as possible), the Europeans tried to put Humpty Dumpty back together again with Minsk, which the Ukrainians signed off on, but we discouraged them from implementing it (same tactic we used with Izetbegovic and Lisbon that sparked off the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina). Nope, we don’t allow the Europeans to deal with conflicts and make peace in their own backyard.

No way. That’s not their place, but ours. NATO rules, y’all. It’s our favorite power tool, and it’s still relevant, dadgummit. Get that through your heads, Euros. You can’t manage without us and NATO.

See: https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/4077554/posts?page=21#21

Zelensky ran on a peace ticket and got over 70% of the vote, but when he tried to begin to take steps to implement a modified version of Minsk and went to remonstrate with AZOV about the ceasefire, he got a spanking.* Kolomoisky owns both Zelensky and AZOV, so it may have been political theater. I’ve posted about this before. Anyway, the result was no ceasefire, more NATO.

*In the fall of 2019 when Zelensky went to Zolote to remonstrate with AZOV & Co. about implementing the ceasefire, he got schooled but good (short video of exchange here):

China & India with 10 times bigger population can buy all of the Russian oil.

Does it matter WHO stopped the oil?

It matters very much in terms of the geopolitical quagmire that is Eastern Europe when they decide who to point fingers at.

Huh? You really know this guy, Putin?
The best thing that ever happened to Ukraine Is the Russian invasion. Ukraine, the most corrupt country in the world thanks to the EU and USA.
I truly wouldn’t mind staying in touch with a country led by Orban.

40% discount is not bad price for Russia considering Biden caused price of oil to more than double.

“Russia resumed oil flows through a pipeline to central Europe after Hungary’s sole refiner stepped in to resolve a tussle over the payment of a transit fee, easing fears of a supply crunch in the region.

Slovakia began to receive Russian crude via the link across Ukraine, Hungarian refiner Mol Nyrt confirmed in a statement on Wednesday. Russia’s oil will reach Hungary starting Thursday. The transit fee payment agreement covers only flows to Slovakia and Hungary, not the Czech Republic, according to Slovnaft, part of Mol Group.”

The Slovakians and Hungarians paid the transit fee to Ukraine, since the Russian-owned gas company was prevented from paying by sanctions.

Someone juggled currencies to circumvent sanctions

Hungary and Slovakia paid Ukraine for the transit of Russian oil through the Druzhba pipeline.

They transferred money to Kiev because Transneft was unable to pay for transit due to sanctions restrictions. The costs had to be covered by the EU.

We in the US are justifiably angry that after 76 years of rebuilding from WW2, a number of European countries are not contributed their approved percentage to keeping NATO armed and running. With his announcement today about retaking Crimea, Zelensky is either going off script, or the script has been changed. Time will tell which. I suspect the pipeline will be turned back on once the wartime disturbed payment system is straightened out.

Zelensky didn't go off script. Some foreign media outlets did misinterpret, though, whether intentionally or not. Zelensky has said all along that Ukrainians want to drive the Russian occupiers from all of their land. The West maintains that the Russian "referendum" in Crimea was illegal.

Alternative to NATO proposed by Zelensky's party
By JERUSALEM POST STAFF Published: MARCH 8, 2022 17:49

"With ongoing negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, Zelensky's Servant of the People Party has proposed a new security agreement as an alternative to the country joining NATO...
In addition, the party gave assurance that in no case will Ukraine cede its claim to Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk nor agree to any ultimatums on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"We hear Russia's demand to recognize the so-called "DNR" and "LNR", [Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, and] to recognize the occupation of Crimea." The party claimed. "It is clear that we will not do that. But we need to decide how the lives of people in these territories will be regulated within our integral state."
