Many here dislike the man and completely over look the fact that as special envoy to President Trump, he gathered insight that was used by the President to totally rebuild the regional political alliances between Israel and the Arabs.
Compared to the UAE, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, the Sultan of Oman is a minor player. But this piece tells us that he is the oldest of those in power and had a very prescient and accurate outlook. He recognized Kushner's role and carefully educated him.
After putting him in his place, the Sultan carefully outlined to Jared Kushner a important steps to reconciliation and a new order of things
President Trump did in fact upset the applecart and completely change the region. Today, a year and a half later, that change is still in growth mode as Israel and the various Arab states coalesce economically and into a solid anti Iran entity.
SULTAN OF OMAN Qaboos bin Said al-Said at the Beit Al Baraka Royal Palace in Muscat, January 2019.
I dislike Kushner…but this was a very interesting article, and (obviously) paints him in a better light. Few things and few people are all black or white, and I do admire him for his efforts to bring peace to the Mideast.
Conceptually wrong on a key assumption
“… where to compromise and draw the borders in Jerusalem and the West Bank…”
Wrong. There will never be any borders drawn in Jerusalem or the “West Bank (sic!)…”
The Arab terrorists ended any possible consideration of their being given any more of the Jewish Promised Land … years ago. I can’t say whether it was when they murdered their 3,000th innocent Jew or Christian. Or their 6,000th. But the entire Abbas-PLO-Fatah-Hamas-Muslim Brotherhood- Hezbollah Occupation of Israel must be brought to a successful termination now. No more games. No more allowing an enemy to Occupy over 3/4 of Israel —- it’s an insane and extremely dangerous policy —- send them all home you Arabia and Egypt and stop trying to be so nice nice and “humanitarian” with people that want yo kill you. No responsible government on earth roils expose its citizens to such dangers. And yes, this means Israel needs to get a much better government — one that removes threats to its people and land. Enough of the Quisling “humanitarianism” — it’s perceived as a detestable weakness by the Arab Terrorists — and as such it both enables and encourages them to keep attacking and bombing and murdering.
Ping!
Sultan Qaboos died in 2020. What sort of policy is his successor following?
