NATO surveillance planes and fighter jets are patrolling around the clock to protect the airspace of member states amid fears that Russian President Vladimir Putin's war could spread beyond Ukraine's borders. NATO on Thursday shared a video on Twitter regarding the effort, showing its planes and pilots in action. A series of captions included in the video explained that NATO is working to protect the skies of its allies in Eastern Europe "with more jets flying from air bases and aircraft carriers across the alliance" and by "bringing additional deterrence and defensive capabilities."
The video said that NATO is also supplying a "constant defensive presence and monitoring the airspace" over Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Romania, all of which are on or near NATO's eastern flank near Russia. A couple of the Eastern NATO members, Estonia and Latvia, share borders with Russia.

I was going to ask something similar. It seems that Russia is seeking to make allies with North Korea and China. What happens when the patrolling NATO plane encounters a Chinese plane out on a sortie to bomb ukraine? Does NATO shoot it down? Then we’re looking at World War 3

Xi, with sources on both sides, knows exactly the flaws and dangers of every newest high tech system we have. The Russians know the effectiveness of all deployed assets and the new trainees manning and maintaining them. Many Ukrainian pilots and ground support paid with their lives for this PLA trove of information. The Chinese, operating in a similar sized theater, know precisely what to expect.

Nope. If they did, we would not be 165 days into the war. Russia would nit have lost thousands of troops and hundreds of tanks for very little gain.
The Russians have not come up against serious western/US air defenses yet. Nor against NATO offensive systems - jammers, SAM suppression, cruise missiles, SDB’s, ATACMS, etc. and etc., much less air attack.
Well, OK, some of that maybe, but that was vs Israel in Syria, not in Ukraine. Israel has always won in those cases btw.
If the Russians knew what they were doing, or had the means to implement such plans as they had, they would have had Kiev in March, and would be done dictating terms to a new Ukrainian government.
We’re getting both. We are patrolling Taiwanese airspace.

This is not news. We have maintained a permanent patrol over Europe since the end of WWII. You never want all your planes on the ground in case airbases get hit.

The carrier aircraft flights are ours, but the Poles are flying a lot of their own stuff from their own fields.

Taiwan is far more defensible. It is a fraction of the size of Ukraine, is surrounded by seas, and is basically a mountain with beach on its western and northern coasts.
Have our planes patrol our border.
Taiwan can be taken by blockading them and waiting them out.
