In Russia criticising the military or their invasion of Ukraine is now effectively illegal.
An atmosphere of suspicion is leading a growing number of Russians to denounce their friends, neighbours and even relatives to the police for opposing the war.
Russians Are Snitching On Friends and Relatives Who Oppose the War

Americans are snitching on deplorables who promote notions of specific child gender bathrooms and jailing criminals.
Ah, so the Soviet mindset never ended. I figured as much.
Beats how Americans would snitch on those not masking up and/or going out during COVID.
The security apparatus has a much harder time without willing participation of some of the populace.
Something to remember, here.
There seems to be this neanderthal knee-jerk mindset on this
forum that whatever Russia is doing that isn’t good, there
has to be posts about how terrible the United States is.
I was raised my whole life to respect our nation. Even at
times when I couldn’t respect the leaders, I do respect our
nation. I expect Trump to be back in the Oval Office in
2024. I also expect him to address the B.S. that has been
going on in his absence.
I do not see Russia getting a guy to clean up its act in
the next couple of years. If anything, the leadership may
go still further South by then.
Can we quit acting like the United State is and will remain
the Soviet Union, for perhaps even a few hours?
Snitching was a natzie trait.
Great post
Thanks...
protests too much
My buddy married a Russian gal and had problems. When my wife suggested counseling she was dead set against it. The state would find out. We had to teach her about doctor/client privacy.
“Russians Are Snitching On Friends and Relatives Who Oppose the War”
Looks like it’s time to de-Nazify Russia.
Okhrana
The Department for Protecting the Public Security and Order (Russian: Отделение по охранению общественной безопасности и порядка), usually called Guard Department (Russian: Охранное отделение) and commonly abbreviated in modern sources as Okhrana (Russian: Охрана, IPA: [ɐˈxranə] (listen), lit. ‘the guard’) was a secret-police force of the Russian Empire and part of the police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD) in the late 19th century and early 20th century, aided by the Special Corps of Gendarmes.
...
Forerunners of the Okhrana as a Russian security service included the Secret Prikaz (Taynyy Prikaz [ru]) (1654–1676), the Preobrazhensky Prikaz [ru] (1686–1726), the Secret Chancellery [ru] (1731–1762), the Secret Expedition [ru] (1762–1801), and the Third Section of His Imperial Majesty’s Own Chancellery (1826–1880).
I grew up getting goose bumps at the flag and wanting to go to Vietnam and "keep the world safe for democracy"
Lord help me but after the coup in the last stolen election and closely studying the motives of the military action my entire life, especially since 911, I truly wish I could restore my faith.
Even if Trump gets back in, we still have the endless parade of Republican twits like romney mcconnel mccain etc etc etc and then theres the deep state bureaucracy and the corrupted "news media" that enables the corruption.
so it is easy to see why even conservative patriots now see our STOLEN US FLAG as no more than a mcdonalds or pepsi logo and my country is better than your country is just an illusion,
I truly wish it was not this way, but it is.
Don’t you, sir, realize this site is packed with Russian trolls? They laugh at your calls for objectivity...
Kind of like Americans snitching on relatives who attended the January 6th rally.
Pointing out how America is losing its freedoms to leftist authoritarianism makes us Russian trolls?
Thanks, I think. Smile...
