This was negligent. If the officer wanted to do this type of demonstration he should have first removed the magazine and cleared the chamber. This is gun safety 101. I do this anytime I pick up or put down a firearm, even if I just watched someone unload it. It should be instinctive.
Should add five years to his sentence for sheer stupidity.
Negative.
Never point a firearm at anything you do not want to destroy.

So the training officer not only failed to unload his pistol he apparently had his finger on the trigger as he was demonstrating his fast-draw skills and wasn’t pointing his pistol in a safe direction.
And not at the f-ing library!
It’s a bit of a side note, but on the TV show ‘Pawn Stars’ people often come in to sell guns. No one ever bothers to clear those guns. They just wave them around while yapping away.
I know the show is probably scripted from the get-go. But they sure missed a great opportunity to educate folks about firearm safety.
“If the officer wanted to do this type of demonstration he should have first removed the magazine and cleared the chamber. “
Uh, no. Never perform Quick Draw McGraw in a public place using a real weapon. I don’t care how many times you “clear” the weapon.
Yup. “The gun is loaded and hot” even if it’s not.
