I’d bet there are some insane abortionists who’d be up for the job.
We know that person also died in the crash.
Suicidal abortionist? They’re out there.
Disagree. There is bounce back and that doesn’t help “same-direction” traffic. Neither would you want to plow into one.
At least not on the Jersey Turnpike. And many other roads where there is no median *except* Jersey barriers.
Just plain guard rails will do.
Ah...That's exactly what they were designed for...lol. They were designed to keep you from getting hit head on by opposing traffic. They're moving at 65, you at 60 mph, that's a 125 mph impact..You don't get that kind of energy bouncing off a K rail. Most resemble a fatal aircraft crash.
Nothing personal, but from my perspective anyone against K rails on undivided highways has no idea WTF they're talking about.
It’s good to see multiple sources for any story of national importance. It’s not a duplicate article but another source. It shows there is national interest in the person’s death. Just because other readers have seen the topic reported from earlier news sources, is no reason to stop posting a new version of story. Said Freeper didn’t have to open this thread.
RIP
Yes she did.
RIP Congresswoman.
Yup. 50 something female dead at the scene. What year, make and model vehicle was she driving?
Watch your language, please.
I’m an engineer.
I’m not “against” Jersey barriers, but it’s not the perfectly rosy picture you paint. Sounds like the people all excited about using seatbelts. It’s going to save everyone!
Just because you’re not in a head-on doesn’t mean you’re not going to be banged up but good. By the barrier, or by crashing into someone else going “the same direction”.
Don’t tell me no one ever died crashing on a barrier highway after hitting the barrier.
Where do ya get this BS? I said repeatedly K rails will save many times more lives than no K rails present. Are you able to read the words? Stop assaulting the truth.
Sounds like the people all excited about using seatbelts. It’s going to save everyone!
The only person here who said, "It's going to "Save everyone" was you! I never said or suggested that. Get it right. Gezzz.
Just because you’re not in a head-on doesn’t mean you’re not going to be banged up but good. By the barrier, or by crashing into someone else going “the same direction”.
No one here suggested or implied any of that...wow.
Don’t tell me no one ever died crashing on a barrier highway after hitting the barrier.
But I didn't tell ya that.
You're a very disingenuous individual, one who obviously has no a clue here. You're pulling all this out your rump. You exhibit all the signs of someone with real bad character.
No, I’m going by your words and reading between the lines from the tone they give. As I stated, it “sounds like”. The implication is they stop head-ons and thus, stop the only really serious accidents. You obviously didn’t fully get my meaning, either, so we’re even.
You are right that it would stop head-on. But it also can cause ricochet back where it came from, and that isn’t pretty, either.
Personally I don’t see what’s wrong with a big median and guard rails. Wouldn’t it allow more give so the vehicle will not necessarily bounce back, and will be greatly slowed even if it breaks through so unlikely to go head-on? The actual median also serves some of that purpose by providing space and material that slows it down.
Of course, all of this depends on the geometry available in any given area.
So, it’s all good, but maybe it’s just not necessary to do this for the old 2-lane “highways”. ROI and cost-benefit, etc. rural areas just aren’t going to have all the traffic that increases the chance of accidents.
BTW, where did I insult you or behave impolitely?
You start insulting me and turning on me, starting with the veiled hostile insult of “WT…” along with clueless and “bad character”. That is poor form, sir.
We’ve interacted many times and I don’t see the need for getting bent out of shape over street barriers.
