Wow. I don’t understand the business side of Hollywood. They will just eat the cost of making the movie, rather than get any of it back thru releasing the movie? Even if it bombed at the box office or streaming, they would still recover something by releasing it.
Was the plot, storyline, acting, messaging just so bad, that they never want anyone to see it????

I think the idea was it would damage the entire franchise going forward, so it had to be killed altogether.
Maybe it was so bad they feared it would damage their brand. Or it so non-transparently exposed their utter wokeness.
I became a big fan of the Critical Drinker on Youtube a few years ago. I’ve noticed he’s now just one of an army of guys on Youtube very effectively panning woke movies. It’s causing a lot of people to never bother even watching them, I suspect.

But if all the people who see it decide “screw Warner Brothers, I’m never watching another DC Comics movie again” and then refuse to buy tickets to the next Justice League, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern movies, then they have lost more money than if they just don’t release the film.
Marketing and distribution cost money. They may have figured spending $50 million advertising this pile of guano would bring in $10 million in sales, thus losing an additional $40 million. Time to bury it now.
Apparently because of the Discovery merger they have the ability to take a significant tax write off. If it truly is a bad movie they may lose less by shelving it and taking the write-off

Hollywood is about making and laundering cash. Bottom line. If they can get the public to subsidize their propaganda, so much the better.
