The United States conducted a "successful" counterterrorism operation against a "significant" Al Qaeda target Ayman Al Zawahiri in Afghanistan over the weekend, a senior administration official told Fox News.

President Biden on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. E.T. is expected to address the nation from the White House on the operation.

Our government is corrupt, not that corrupt. Getting the official death report from the Taliban may be a little difficult.

Zawahiri is at least 71 years old.

He wasn’t killed before because his brother was one of those Musim Brotherhood terrorist leaders who the Obama Biden admin was using to overthrow Egypt’s president Mubarak in the Arab Spring.

Zawahiri of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad is one of those who might be considered “ better dead than waterboarded” by certain US politicians who don’t want people looking too closely at his past visits to the States, or past terrorist record, IIRC. Killing him rather than take the risk of capturing him ties up some loose ends, no doubt.

The news reporters here said that he was not in hiding but out in public moving around freely and that’s how he was located. People in the know, think that he was outed . Sounds more likely to me.

4 syllables are too many for Biden. He calls him “Zawiri.”

Is Al Quaeda even still in business?
Haven't they been overtaken by ISIS long ago? Creepy Joe thinks we are still in 2010.

Me 2

maybe it was a different Al Zawahiri

all this terrorism crap is BS, (like the covid scam),

I am still mystified by the fact that the Boeing 767 series has the built in capability to be flown by remote control by the US miltary, its the reason many countries dumped them when they found out. I have zero faith in our government at any level

terrorism is just another one of their extortion rackets to boost Globalism ( like this idiotic Ukraine crap we are supposed to get all worked up about )

Jason Bodsky:
Thread: A few important connections between #Iran and #AlQaeda’s Ayman al-#Zawahiri. Not only does Saif al Adl, a potential Zawahiri successor, reside in #Iran, but Zawahiri’s son-in-law Abd-al Rahman al-Maghrebi also resides in Iran.

Zawahiri had a years-long friendship with the former Commander of #Iran’s IRGC Quds Force, Ahmad Vahidi (a Soleimani predecessor), who helped #AlQaeda leaders find safe harbor in 2001. Vahidi is now Iran’s Interior Minister in the Raisi administration.
From #Iran, Saif al Adl helped relay orders from Ayman al-Zawahiri to Tanzim Qaedat fi al-Jazeeratul Arab (the Al-Qaeda Organization on the Arabian Peninsula) to attack #SaudiArabia.
In a letter by Zawahiri in 2008, he hailed #Iran for its assistance and “vision” to assist #AlQaeda in establishing new bases in #Yemen after abandoning bases in Iraq and Saudi Arabia

More good news for anti terrorists. Ayman al-Zawahiri, number 2 man in the planning of 9/11 apperently killed in Kabul. A very clean strike with no collateral damage according to reports. Perhaps he was identified by Afghanis who favor America, or perhaps some Taliban decided to get rid of him. It could have been they didn’t like the competition, or because having him there was a violation of the agreement when we left Afghanistan for Taliban to not allow anti US terrorist presence there. Hope its true, all good. See BBC article below:

He was 70. If that’s super old, so are a lot of people here.

A 70 y/o desert rat has many more years on him than a 70 y/o Boomer.

Actually I know Africa pretty well, having lived and worked in 4 African countries in my lifetime. There are currently plenty of wars in Africa. That doesn't mean its our business to intervene in them.
Which African countries did you ave in mined here?

Around the time bin Laden disappeared into deep hiding in Pakistan, al-Zawahiri was married and under protection in the tribal northwestern area of Pakistan. After that I never heard any more about his location.

Hmmm, what if we couldn’t?

Interesting way to get the enemy to

1: self identify

2: destroy a useful asset.
