BREAKING NEWS: House PASSES assault weapons ban 217-213: Two Republicans join all but five Democrats to move bill to the Senate - where it faces a very tough road to getting passed

The House passed an assault weapons ban Friday evening looking to give Democrats a last-minute win on their way out the door for August recess.

Five Democrats voted against the measure - Reps. Kurt Schrader, Ore., Vicente Gonzalez, Texas, Rep. Jared Golden, Maine and Rep. Ron Kind, R-Wisc.

Two Republicans voted for the measure - Reps. Chris Jacobs, N.Y., and Brian Fitzpatrick, Pa.

The ban cleared a procedural hurdle that allowed the House to move forward with expedited debate on Friday afternoon, with a final vote expected to follow. Three Democrats - Reps. Vicente Gonzalez, Texas, Jared Golden, Maine, and Kurt Schrader, Ore., voted 'no' with all Republicans, but the resolution passed 217 -211.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi meanwhile broke out a floor sign advertising AR-15s for children as she urged members to vote in favor of the ban.

'JR 15: Get 'em one like yours,' the ad reads, along with a photo of a child-sized AR-15.

'Our goal was to develop a shooting platform that was not only sized correctly, and safe, but also looks, feels and operates just like mom and dad's gun,' the ad continues.

The weapons manufacturer Wee 1 Tactics unveiled the 'JR-15' in January.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., expressed support for the child's semi-automatic weapon on Twitter.

Mandatory gun buybacks will be on the agenda, just like now in Canada, a few years later. They’ll need gun registries, universal background checks, and a bit of time.

“Kudos to Kurt Schrader. May Pete DeFazio get the monkey pox.”

Schrader lost his Democrat primary to a nutzoid leftist so he’s out after this term — which freed him up to do the right thing here since he has nothing more to lose.

Dems Cuellar (TX), Golden (ME) & Gonzalez (TX) are facing tough re-election fights and need to pretend to be moderates in order to have a chance at winning in November.

Again, you think they are going to go into the hood and try to take the guns from there? Yeah, right.

They aren’t going to ‘take them’ door to door or anything. They’ll just stop selling new ones and confiscating any used in a crime and eventually they’ll be gone. I wouldn’t really count on them leaving revolvers, maybe single action 5-round ones, in the long term.

The biker gangs that literally make their own machine guns and the drug cartels that import AKs won’t “enforce” this either. I’m not against buying a product the Constitution says we have a right to possess from bikers and cartels. Pirates fought for America during the War of 1812, after all...

These election thieves really like to pour gasoline on fires. Russia, China, here at home... The whole world will be on fire before November.

Nope. I just bet on sure things. I’m confident that this won’t pass the Senate.

1. The Senate recesses on August 5th. It won’t be back into session until after Labor Day, at which point campaign season will be in full swing.

2. The filibuster is there, and isn’t going anywhere.

3. It would take 60 votes to pass, and there aren’t anywhere near enough.

A lot of people on FR love making predictions of doom without any solid data to back up their predictions, but they don’t want to be held to account when their predictions don’t come to pass.

It is a strange form of copium in and of itself, the idea being make a prediction as dire as possible, so that you can feel good about it not happening.

That’s precisely what you are doing, and you know it, because you don’t believe your own 50/50 prediction.

We can test it, because I am offering you an open bet on the matter. Let’s name the stakes.

I don’t think they’re going to wait long, this is getting rushed through. If it takes more than a week I’ll be surprised.

It they recess without passing it in the senate and getting it signed the same day, that might leave it maybe at 60/40 to not pass. It’s nothing to be ‘confident’ about now. Everyone said this last red flag one was a pipe dream for the dems too, but of course it passed.

LOL! That “red flag” bill doesn’t even mandate “red flag” laws.

It just gives funding to States that decide to implement any number of programs, one of which is “red flag” laws.

Why don’t we put something relatively easy on you, since you are so afraid.

Let’s bet tag-lines. I’ll check in with you on Friday. When the Senate hasn’t passed this, you have to adopt whatever tag-line that I choose for the month of August. Same goes for me if it has passed?

Deal?

The House under Pelosi passes just about anything she throws at them. The Senate is where the adults are. And if they’re reckless enough to pass this, it’ll be in the courts forever. They want to ban virtually all guns in America. There’s no way this is constitutional.

It’s still not over after Friday. It’s not a done deal for sure, but the risk is severe.

I just don’t know why you think this is so safe.. Oh well.

You just said you were confident that it would be rushed through in a week.

So, why not back up what you said?

It’s just a tag-line, right?
