“We have them manning most of the HIMARs we have sent, for example.”
And your proof is what exactly?
American Vietnam War forces....
A shame. A lot of sacrifice and a lot of service from those good people-——for an ungrateful (mostly) nation. Thank goodness some of that was countered later but it was wrong for a long time.
“Agree, they’re not active duty when working in Ukraine, they only return to active duty when they get back.”
And your proof is what?
“And your proof is what?”
Common sense. We send American weapons, we have to send Americans to show them how to use them (or, more likely, to aim, fire, and repair them).
To think our military does not have a revolving door of this type is quite narrow-minded, considering all our ‘adventures’ around the world.
Trump changed the Army plan to reactivate 5th Corp headquarters in Germany and had it reactivating instead into Poland, and shifted much of the U.S. and NATO force posture to the Black Sea region, the Baltic states and Poland to counter Russia.
“We have them manning most of the HIMARs we have sent, for example.”
Do you have a link for that?
Who does the maintenance on a HIMARS system when it goes down in Eastern Ukraine? Don’t try to tell me Ukrainians have been trained in this short period to do the job. You seriously think there are no Americans maintaining those billions of dollars worth of, again, totally foreign to Ukrainians, highest of high tech systems? Yeah, right.
“God only knows, at this point, but half of our (much reduced) army wouldn’t surprise me.”
The US Army active duty personnel number is about 425,000. So, half of that is 212,500. You are suggesting that there are about 200,000 US Army troops in Poland. Are you going to stand by that?
“...they’re not active duty when working in Ukraine, they only return to active duty when they get back.”
So, they are reservists when they are in Ukraine, and return to active duty when they leave Ukraine? Or, do they get temporary DOS (that’s Date of Separation), and then re-activate when they return? Please explain.
“The US Army active duty personnel number is about 425,000. So, half of that is 212,500. You are suggesting that there are about 200,000 US Army troops in Poland. Are you going to stand by that?”
I never stated that I have proof, but I stand by what I suspect. If we seriously want Ukraine to stand a chance, it will take a HUGE NUMBER of troops.
...on the other hand, the Neocon plan to now start a war with China tells me that they’ve pretty much lost interest in Ukraine.
So you may be right, on this.
Do the Nazi SS symbols come with the text?
“Common sense. We send American weapons, we have to send Americans to show them how to use them...”
Yeah, we are training them in Poland. So much for your common sense.
“Yeah, we are training them in Poland. So much for your common sense.”
LOL, dream on.

“LOL, dream on.”
So, are you denying that we are training them in Poland?
“So, are you denying that we are training them in Poland?”
Could be, but we’re still manning at least the HIMARS in Ukraine.
“...but we’re still manning at least the HIMARS in Ukraine.”
Link please.
My friends in NY and NJ are being told what to do in the event of a nuclear bomb and to be sure to have a 1 day go bag ready.
So I always have stuff ready to go on the fly and have my supplies with or without power. But as I see this question. I can’t help but think this is really where we are heading. The rush to disarm us even down to our 9mm and .380 is alarming as well, especially in light of all of this ....its like a frog in boiling water. People in the NE are clueless on any of this really so its all fascinating because they vote for this and then now don’t even have the presence of mind to understand the ramifications of it.
Of course we have boots on the ground and that’s why the concern.
A truck, is a truck, is a truck.
Hydraulics is the same.
The fire control system is fairly easy to fix by swapping out modules.
As advanced as our weapons are, they’re still designed to accommodate the lowest common denominator.
