Russian soldiers refusing to fight on the frontlines of Ukraine are rounded up and detained, prompting their family members to go to their rescue.
Troops, thought to opt to leave Russian forces after a three-month contract fighting in Ukraine, have instead been sent to a makeshift detention center in Bryanka, Luhansk region.
Relatives told The Insider, independent Russian-language investigative website, there is a large number of refuseniks. Moscow's military command is not letting return home, fearing others will follow their example.
The father of one Russian soldier told the outlet that soldiers wanting to quit are bullied back into rejoining frontlines or else kept in cramped spaces where they face tough conditions, forced labor and sometimes torture.
"They no longer want to be up to their ears in the blood of friends and comrades."
Relatives and parents of troops traveled to an administration building in self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) to get answers from authorities, The Insider reported.
So far, attempts have failed to get into the locked building, while authorities refused to give information about troops.
"We need to do something, we need to get the children out of there and stop the lawlessness," one mother Maria told The Insider, "If we are the first, then others will follow. I don't know exactly how many of us there are, but I know there are many."
The Nestka publication reported last week a center in the Luhansk region was where hundreds of servicemen who refused to fight are taken, with many being held in basements and garages.
A growing number of Russian families are demanding answers from the Kremlin about missing soldiers. A woman son killed in Ukraine told the BBC earlier this month many mothers blame the Kremlin for their deaths and would rise up against President Vladimir Putin.

omg,
this has probably never happened in the history of the world.
The globalists are enjoying this Slavic death fest. Not one of them has the courage to look a Ukrainian or Russian mother in the eye.
Russian families have learned, Putin doesn’t keep his word or honor contracts.

omg,
never before in the history of the world has a ruler or government lied.
What to do ?!
Not like that’s ever happened here or anything like that, right ?
They’ve already exceeded the U.S. death toll in eleven years of Vietnam, and there is no social safety net in Russia. Each dead soldier leaves a family destitute without the primary bread winner. Such things have a way of destabilizing authoritarian regimes. That’s why they’re using siberian cannon fodder first.
Everybody with an ounce of sense fears the “Mom Voice”.
They’re between a rock and a hard spot. They’ll somehow escape to the Ukrainian side or be killed or eventually rounded up and prosecuted as war criminals.

Exactly they cheer whites killing each other off.
Only Putin is enjoying this Slavic death fest.
Putin started and is the continuance force that keeps this Slavic death fest running.
Putin is killing Eastern Orthodox Eastern Slavs.
There are lots of black vs black kill fests.
Lots of brown vs brown kill fests.
And there have been white vs white death fests since the 1940s. Think of the communists killings in west Germany and italy. Or the Falklands war or the Balkan wars.
