I just experienced that at a Motel 6 in Des Moines! From my second-floor room, I heard some noise erupt. I looked out to see six “migrants” sitting on their car hoods, guzzling beers. One guy then walked behind a dumpster to relieve himself. Motel management chased them off, but that resulted in boozed-up migrants in moving vehicles.
If Mexico dumped the language of their colonialist oppressors and taught their kids English, their GDP would be double Canada’s.

I came home from work the other day in central Houston - there was a carpenter working at my house and he spoke only Spanish. My wife and I went out to eat at a restaurant nearby and they speak only Spanish. I didn’t speak English with anyone but my wife until I went back to work the next day. This town has big areas of Spanish only. And they do not even try English.

My brother lives in Rosarito, Mexico. He loves it. Loves the people. He doesn’t speak Spanish which is ridiculous but because he lives in a tourist area, it doesn’t matter. I am thinking of buying a place there. I Could never have imagined there would be a time where I would think living in Mexico would be better than living in the US.
I went to Cabo San Lucas in April. It was great. 75-80 degrees every day. 50% humidity. The people are very friendly. It is one of the safest places in Mexico. I probably will go back next year.
This was just at the end of covid. There were three cruise ships in port the next day (Sunday). After that hardly any.
The only issue was getting through customs going into Mexico on a Saturday afternoon at 1pm. That is because most of the time shares in Cabo run from Saturday to Saturday. There were a bunch of planes that all arrived at the airport in the same 2 hour period. More than they had gates for. More than the customs agents could handle. It took over an hour to get through customs including picking up your luggage.
