Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt is surging in the Republican Senate primary, according to three recent polls, as support for former Gov. Eric Greitens falls amid relentless attacks over the allegations of physical abuse and sexual assault against him.

The polls, all conducted within the past week, show Schmitt in the lead and Greitens in third, behind Rep. Vicky Hartzler. The surveys do not necessarily mean Schmitt will win the Aug. 2 election, but together they indicate his campaign has gained momentum at Greitens’ expense in the final days of the race.

Greitens is dropping like a rock and unless he can reverse it then it looks like Schmitt. Hartzler keeps her solid hold on second.

On the other side, Valentine is ahead of Kunce by four points and both are going negative. Not sure how that plays were her 'caring nurse' persona.

What is Schmidt? MAGA or RINO?
Has Trump made an endorsement?

No Trump endorsement to date.

They all claim to be MAGA and wrap themselves in Trump.

The most recent polls prior to this were about a month old. Things change.

Greitens is an oily opportunist and totally unreliable.

I know the negative ads have got to be hurting Greitens. Besides the fact that he was hounded out of office by a Soros prosecutor (or he allowed himself to be hounded out) his wife is claiming abuse to both her and his kids. I have no idea of the validity of her charges, but I have no doubt that if he’s the nominee they will be relentless against him and we’ll likely lose the seat.

Schmitt has, in my opinion, been reasonably solid as the state attorney general. He joined the lawsuit against the 2020 election results, he has done a good job in at first confining MO to one abortion clinic to declaring abortion illegal in MO as of SCOTUS’s ruling on Roe v. Wade.

I know nothing of Hartzler but assume she’d make a better Senator than Blunt. Wife and I plan to vote for Schmitt a week from today for whatever that’s worth.

“Valentine is ahead of Kunce by four points and both are going negative.”

On each other? That would be very uncommon in 2022.

The DNC obviously keeps a tight rein on candidates’ ads, making sure they only attack Republicans including ones not even on the ballot (Trump) and also making sure they do nothing to harm each other.

That was certainly true here in the PA Senate primary; there were NO ads in which Democrats Fetterman and Lamb attacked each other — 100% of their hatred was directed at Republicans. And it’s surely the same elsewhere.

Look at how few statewide Democrat primaries are even competitive this year. The Rat party establishment has cleared the field almost everywhere, therefore there’s no reason to “attack” within the primary.

And the lack of competition frees up Democrat voters to cross over and sabotage highly competitive GOP primaries which has happened in numerous states. That’s why it never happens the other way around, at least not this year.

Trump did an anti-endorsement for Hartzler which was odd. Hasn’t chosen an Eric yet and we’re a week out from the primary.

Schmitt has been awesome - for the past year or two - knowing he was running for Blunt’s seat.

I’m getting tons of mailings from Schmitt, none from Greitens. All but one was pro Schmitt and the last one was anti Greitens.

I don’t have TV so I don’t know what TV ads are playing. If Greitens doesn’t have much for TV ads, then he’s relying on the web and especially Bannon’s show which isn’t the best plan in Missouri. Most people I know around here that vote, ain’t on the interwebs.

My feeling is that he'll be MAGA for a term or two and then melt into the swamp but he's a sharp guy and knows his legalese. Will need to be watched though.

Yeah, Greitens was a rising star, if not a bit of an over achiever(and a dem) but then he got his chance as governor and decided to screw his hairdresser which gave the corrupt prosecutor a chance to screw him. Poor judgement and imho, so was that stupid RINO hunting ad, especially having seen old-ager’s link/video.

Trying to go “viral”. Immature and shows he has no life offline.

I’m going with Schmitt too.

Is he another Crenshaw? Came out of the barn gate all full of conservative juices but as soon as he got in Washington DC he turned Into eating establishment swamp snake! That bastard backstabbed his base here in Texas.

Greitens was a D before he became a disgraced R. Now he’s a liability. Schmitt has been walking the talk since he became AG.

SEAL or not, he’s bad for our cause. Otherwise, I like him.

Yes, and the foolish Texans renominated Crenshaw on March 1 when there was credible opposition.
