Kyiv, Ukraine--The Biden administration should allow the Pentagon to deploy U.S. military advisers to Ukraine to help coordinate the billions of dollars of arms flowing into the country and to keep better tabs on the weapons, members of a bipartisan congressional delegation visiting Kyiv said Saturday.
"I think we should do more," Rep. Michael Waltz, R-Fla., the first Green Beret elected to Congress, told Fox News after meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"That said," Waltz continued, "it should come with appropriate safeguards, with appropriate oversight and the only way we can get that oversight is to actually have some advisors in Ukraine helping their military with the planning and logistics."

send your own family a-holes
President Dwight D. Eisenhower wrote to the new Prime Minister of the Bao Dai government, Ngo Dinh Diem, promising United States support to ensure a noncommunist Vietnam. Following through on that commitment, direct United States aid to South Vietnam began in January 1955, and American advisors began arriving in February to train the South Vietnamese army.
“It ain’t me, it ain’t me....”
What could possibly go wrong?
Most of our aid has been siphoned off and armaments sold on the black market. I say the 44 billion plus we have already sent is enough. If they can’t account for it, screw ‘em. We’ll go bankrupt trying to satisfy the greed of their government.
Why not just send Ukraine a couple of pallets of Gun Free Zone signs to ward off the Russians?
They seem to think they work here in America.
Two words : " Mission creep" !
The Kamilla's nose is under the tent...
Wow. I didn’t know that. Thanks.
Damned idiot wants to get us nuked so he can undone his SF fantasy.
> Actually Ike was the one who first sent advisers there. <
True that. But we had advisers pretty much everywhere. It was LBJ who decided to turn the whole thing into a full-blown war.
I know this not your intent, dfwgator. But I have old-school Democrat relatives who insist that the whole Vietnam debacle is Ike’s fault because of the adviser thing. They refuse to blame LBJ simply because LBJ was a Democrat.
I like it! Most sensible solution I have ever heard!
Uh no
And it’s one two three
What are fighting for?
Don’t ask me I don’t give a damn
Next stop is Ukraine-nam!
I’m surprised, since most Rats blame Nixon for Vietnam, and totally ignore JFK and LBJ’s role.
[There is nothing wrong with sending U.S. military advisers to Ukraine. But of course they’ll need a base of operations. And that base must be protected. So we’ll have to send in air support and artillery units as well. And infantry units to secure the area around the base.
Oh, wait. I’ve seen this movie before. And it didn’t end so well. I guess it’s not such a good idea after all.]

They could just send aircraft the way the Russians did in Vietnam:

I’d say the second option comes with fewer complications.
we routinely send advisors to countries usually related to arms sales or training
but not in the middle of a hot war
this is putting a foot on the slippery slope
Hello Vietnam
Exactly.
Only this time we will be dealing with nukes, probably on our own soil, maybe even in our own back yard.
We are indeed a ship of fools.
Like we don’t already have advisers there when we give them billions in military materials. Sure. Just making it look good for the cameras.
