In late June, Russian security agents took physicist Dmitry Kolker from his hospital bed in the Siberian city of Novosibirsk, where he was being treated for stage-four pancreatic cancer, and whisked him on a four-hour flight to a Moscow prison on charges of treason.
Mr. Kolker, who at that point was being fed through a tube, died behind bars three days later.

A simple enough article about Russia but it has triggered post after post of irrelevant anti-America remarks and cracks.
The anti-Americanism is getting out of hand at FR, it is no longer anti-Democratic party or anti-liberalism, now it is white hot hatred of us all here as a nation.
When it was Trump, he never controlled the government, not for one single day. The American political establishment still called most of the shots - and yes the U.S. political establishment is the most corrupt and evil in the world - as it was during Trump’s presidency. Under Reagan, it was a different generation entirely, one with some decency and belief in the American system - not completely bought into totalitarianism as those in power today - so under Reagan in the 80’s, no it wasn’t. But believing that this government has anything at all in common with America in the 80’s is both delusional and living in a past that no longer exists.
And yes the government of the United States is today the most evil and corrupt on Earth - and it isn’t even close - give them a handful more years in power they will become the most evil and corrupt in the history of civilization.
It is not Zelensky, who makes this war. The war of course is made by Putin.
When it comes to Zelensky then he is not the one making the Ukrainians fight. If he were to tell Ukrainians to surrender then people would just remove him because they want to fight for their freedom.
Are they Putanistas or Putanas or both? My vote is both.
