As shootings and homicides continue to skyrocket across the city, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler announced a new emergency declaration on Thursday in an effort to combat the rising crime. . . . .
“Portland will not cure our gun violence problem through law enforcement and prosecutions alone,” Wheeler said. The mayor explained part of the Safer Summer PDX plan includes spending $2.4 million toward community-based violence intervention efforts.
Part of the Safer Summer plan includes outreach efforts to Portlanders most at-risk of being involved in gun violence by “community-based messengers” that are not members of law enforcement, Wheeler explained. “Rather than arrest and prosecute, our goal with this program will be to offer each person at risk of gun violence a meaningful and workable plan tailored to each person’s specific needs to prevent them from getting involved in this in the first place,” Wheeler said.

Seattle, my home town, must be a close second. Full of psychos.
OR has “shall issue” concealed carry permits, and legal open carry.
The problem is so many Portland cops retired, quit or took jobs elsewhere because the commies that run Portland, and the state (election fraud here for more than 20 years) wouldn’t let the cops do their job for the last couple of years.
And the Portland DA never charged any rioters, Antifazzers, criminals, etc.
How right you are. The survey was a couple years back but Portland was first in atheism and Seattle and San Francisco tied close behind.
Portland has one neighborhood, a very diverse neighborhood, as in no white people live there, which produces nearly all “gun crime” in the entire state. Take out the blacks and illegal aliens Oregon hardly has any crime. There is a reason Multnomah County stopped publishing mugshots.

Every friend, this young man had in Portland left shortly or eventually after he did.
They relocated to different Oregone cities, and they often, eventually left those cities due to liberal B$ from Portland and other left wing Oregon cities.
We might have moved to Brookings if that area had a reliable plane service to get in/out to longer range air service. Also, health care was a question.
Brookings to Gold Beach was in a great Banana belt re warmer weather and minimal snow if any. It is in one of the nicest and most beautiful Pacific Coastal areas.
Some Californians buy homes just in California to keep their prop 13 advantage and to shop in Oregone with zero sales taxes. They often use a mail pickup service in Oregone to get Amazon, Costco and other internet orders shipped there with no California Sales taxes.
Many moderates, whom we know, after moving to various parts of Oregone to be nearer to relatives or to just escape from California would come back if they could afford a home back here.
A nurse friend of our grand daughter moved to Crescent City to surf and good pay at the hospital. She left after 4 months to “see the sun again”.

Since Portland is so dry with a moderate climate, golf is played year round and is an important skill to learn.
