Ukraine’s Zelensky Says a Cease-Fire With Russia, Without Reclaiming Lost Lands, Will Only Prolong War
WSJ ^ | 22-JUL-2022 | Yaroslav Trofimov

Recent shipments of U.S. and allied weapons, particularly the Himars multiple-launch rocket systems and 155mm howitzers, have helped to blunt Russia’s offensive in the Donbas and stabilize the situation there, Mr. Zelensky said. The Russians used to fire 12,000 artillery shells daily against 1,000 to 2,000 by Ukraine, he said. Now, he added, Ukraine can fire some 6,000 shells a day while Russia is beginning to feel a shortage of ammunition and troops.

This change in the balance of firepower has stemmed Ukrainian casualties, Mr. Zelensky said. At the peak of fighting in May and June, he said, Ukraine was losing between 100 and 200 troops a day; now, it is down to some 30 fatalities a day and around 250 wounded.

Zelensky has dissolved the opposition and arrested more than 600 members of the government for being critical of him, but the Western narrative says he is fighting for democracy!.....while tossing millions and millions and millions of our tax dollars into that unaccountable black hole as OUR country goes to hell!

Although it may be news to you, Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea have been allies for a long time.

It depends entirely on what you mean by allies. I am referring to being financial and war allies. This is in process, thanks to the west.

Lose the snark.

You're lying or ignorant, Speedy. I've spend two years watching Russian YouTubers, including ones very critical of the government.

Thanks to Biden, we have more political prisoners than Russia does. Steve Bannon may be next one.

Russia, at worst, is a conservative version of Canada. Of course, you don't care about the conservative part since you're all on board with the LGBT agenda.

Again, why is there no voiced opposition in Russia?

You're simply ignorant or lying.

Natasha/Yeah Russia/Natasha's Adventures on YouTube has certainly criticized the Russian government. Sergey Baklykov attended a protest in St. Petersburg.

You and Speedy know nothing about what modern-day Russia is like. It's inexcusable in the age of the internet.

At worst, it is a conservative version of Canada. Yes, the Russians don't allow citizens engage in protests that shutdown city streets or riots. They are smarter than Democrats running liberal cities here.

We have more political prisoners than Russia does thanks to Biden's DOJ.

“You and Speedy know nothing about what modern-day Russia is like. It’s inexcusable in the age of the internet.”

Your conclusion is wrong.

1- Of course protests of Russian Invasion occurred:
NBC Russians Protest Putin’s Invasion Of Ukraine-Protests broke out in more than 50 cities across Russia, according to an NGO. NBC News’ Keir Simmons is in Moscow, where some citizens say the invasion is “a tragedy” and are scared for relatives in Ukraine.

4- Interesting article: Protests in Russia take interesting twists: The signs of protest become more and more creative https://www.foxnews.com/world/protests-russia-take-interesting-twists

A very famous example:

1- Ex-KGB spy was killed because he claimed Putin was a pedophile
Vladimir Putin was furious when one of his former spies, Alexander Litvinenko, publicly called him a pedophile in 2006 — a slur that likely spurred the Russian leader to order the dissident’s assassination in London four months later, a British report concluded on Thursday.
Litvinenko was fatally poisoned by a cup of green tea spiked with radioactive polonium-210.

2- How ex-KGB spy was killed with tea after accusing Putin of pedophilia
The radioactive poison that killed Russian dissident Alexander Litvinenko was delivered under the most civilized of circumstances — at tea time, as he sipped green tea with lemon and honey with two former spy colleagues at a posh London hotel.

I never denied they did. Having said, Russians overwhelmingly support both the war and Putin and for the same reasons I and many other oppose are involvement in creating it and being involved in it.

It's "liberal world order" that fomented a revolution in Ukraine in 2014 that overthrow a democratically-elected President, set off an eight year civil war and turned neo-Nazis and Ukrainian nationalists loose on ethnic Russians.

We armed Ukraine with offensive weapons, teased NATO membership for it and we funding biolabs with deadly pathogens in them. We wouldn't have tolerated Russia or China doing any of that in Mexico.

Russia came to us with their security concerns in an effort to prevent this war in December. If Ukraine hadn't agreed to remain neutral and not join NATO and agree to Minsk Agreement to be implement that would have brought peace to Donbass, this war wouldn't have occurred.

The Russian people have seen and heard of stories of genocide in Donbass. They have seen the pictures of the children that have suffered due to actions of neo-Nazis and Ukrainian nationalists, which we trained, funded and enabled. They realize we turned Ukraine into a threat to their country. Thus, the reason, the Russian people overwhelming support the war.

Addendum:
What would be signs protests in Russia are making a difference?

A protest movement against the invasion of Ukraine is growing in Russia. Demonstrations were held in 60 cities on March 6 and in 37 on Sunday, spurred in part by calls to turn out from imprisoned opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

More than 14,900 people have been detained by security forces and police for protesting, according to OVD-Info, a Russian human rights organization.

To quell [individuals] dissent, Russia has intensified a crackdown on independent Russian news outlets, cut off access to social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, and declared spreading “false information” about the war a criminal offense punishable by up to 15 years in jail.

The moves effectively left state-run media outlets as the ONLY sources permitted to report on the attack and the protests without fear of reprisal.

“Of course protests of Russian Invasion occurred”

I never denied they did.

Putin lit his anti-Ukraine propaganda fires when he moved to Moscow in 1996 under Boris Yeltsin as director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) and secretary of the Security Council. As Putin’s power grew after being appointed as prime minister in August 1999 administration Boris Yeltsin and subsequently becoming acting president and elected outright to his first term as president his desire became apparent to to recreate the U.S.S.R.

Putin was reelected in 2004. Constitutionally limited to two consecutive terms, Putin served as prime minister again from 2008 to 2012 under Dmitry Medvedev. He returned to the presidency in 2012 in an election marred by allegations of fraud and protests and was reelected in 2018.

Then, in April 2021, Putin signed a referendum into law with constitutional amendments allowing him to run for reelection twice more, potentially extending his presidency to 2036. [9]prime minister of Russia from 1999 to 2000, and again from 2008 to 2012.

Putin enjoys making television commercials with him as a lion tamer in a circus taming other nations with a whip
What do the Russian people call this propaganda? They laugh & call them cartoons: Mickey Mouse for adults!

Were there protests? Absolutely.
But as we know, how do you fight the “deep-state” especially in Russia!

Saying Russians overwhelmingly support both the war and Putin is fiction.

Under Putin’s leadership, Russia has experienced democratic backsliding and a shift to authoritarianism. Putin’s ruling Russia is defined by: revealed corruption, intimidation and suppression of independent media in Russia, jailing and repression of political opponents, and a lack of free and fair elections.

Russia under Putin has scored poorly on the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Democracy Index, Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index, and Freedom House’s Freedom in the World index.

True, I can attest to do not overwhelming support the Russian Invasion of Ukraine with more than 14,900 people detained by security forces and police for protesting, according to OVD-Info, a Russian human rights organization. Russia is also currently ‘spying’ on the families of military killed in Ukraine to discover family members expressing subversive speech.

You fully ar entitled to hold your viewpoint. However, I understand Putin & concerns of the people quite differently.

Says the guy who thinks he can read minds, but can't see enough into his own mind to realize it is full of homosexual fantasies. Go ahead, put on those high heels and a dress and read Putin's latest talking points.
