The mother of the 18-year-old gunman who killed 19 students and two teachers at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde apologized when confronted Tuesday by relatives of one of the victims
A tense confrontation between the mother of the Uvalde school shooter and relatives of one of the children he killed was caught on camera Tuesday.
A Telemundo news crew captured the emotionally charged encounter between Adriana Martinez, the mother of the 18-year-old shooter, and relatives of Uvalde victim Amerie Jo Garza, the network reported.
Reporter Edgar Munoz said in an Instagram post that the meeting was accidental and happened after a community meeting Tuesday.
The video showed Martinez being asked what reasons her son had for the attack that killed 19 children and two teachers.
Martinez said her son had mental health issues. "You have no right to judge my son. No, you don't. No, you don't. No. May God forgive you all," Martinez responded.
Martinez then apologized and called her son a coward.
"I know my son was a coward. You think I don't know that? I know," she said, holding a cellphone to her ear. "You don't think I'm carrying all that with me? You don't think I don't know? I know, and I'm sorry."
Telemundo's video showed sheriff's deputies arriving at the scene to de-escalate the situation and escort the mother away.
You mean the cops didn’t wait 77 minutes for backup?

Did she ask for forgiveness?
If not there’s no Christian duty to give it.
L
yes, yes we do...
I can’t believe the glib cruelty here to the mother.
I always wonder about how horrible it is for the parents of these scum, and other close family.
She is sad and ashamed. The guilt must be terrible, yet it ultimately is not her issue.
Have some compassion people. She is NOT the killer.
Apple. Tree.
I’m wondering what she was doing at the community meeting in the first place.
Well said..............
RE: That’ll fix everything.

During Bill Clinton’s reign, the big mantra was when you do anything that invites arrest or even criticism, say “I’m sorry.”
TV trial excerpts had people say of the guilty defendants “He didn’t even say he was sorry.” Or (often a minority) “He said he was sorry.” As, no more he has to do. This was to indirectly clear Bill of any political fallout.
Only God can judge a person’s soul. We can certainly judge a person’s actions.
There were also numerous stories about how “lying is good.”
Well the mother had a long history of drug abuse - so there’s that. Her son was considered an “at risk” child but never received any help. Often wore the same clothes over again daily. Only completed ninth grade and dropped out....couldn’t retain employment as was fired.........So these hints tell us she wasn’t the mother she should have been.
However some kids are going to go bad no matter what kind of parents a kid has. ...and if a parent doesn’t know how to hand out tough love the kids not going to change.
I think the shooters mother should have just kept her mouth shut even though she was clearly being harrassed. And i agree with other posters she should relocate and start life somewhere else.
Parents can discipline their children or we can shoot them dead later when they pose a threat to us during one of their temper tantrums.
Well, the government has the right to judge her son...and they will. The parents, friends and families of the dead have the right to grieve and that takes time. Forgiveness is a selfish act in that it frees the one wronged. Unforgiveness does not hurt those who committed or were party to the crime or injury. Demanding forgiveness is tantamount to recommitting the crime. In time, forgiveness can and will come if sought. God is good. It is beyond foolish and judgmental to condemn those still suffering and grieving for not forgiving on your timetable. I pray that healing comes to all of those in pain.
Judges is an awful book. Samson, Jephthah, and that poor woman terribly assaulted at the end.
I think that's a mother's love for her child, speaking. We haven't walked in her shoes so we don't know what hell she went through with him. The rational part of her apologizes for his actions. She must be going through a lot right now.
I agree.
I feel for the parents and the mother. No one is there for her. This is a tragedy.
The two thieves on either side of Jesus met their fate. God might forgive, the law shouldn’t.
Cant even begin to imagine what she is dealing with now. I dont know if there is much worse. I pray God has mercy on her.
Glad this wasn’t me. I would have strangled her.
