Russian President Vladimir Putin could be facing another war front, this time on his own turf, as one Chechen battalion prepares a second offensive against Moscow, a spokesman for the volunteer fighting force in Ukraine said.

-snip-

"We know the enemy’s positions, where Russian military bases are," spokesman for the Sheikh Mansur Battalion, Islam Belokiev, said in a video message obtained by Fox News Digital this week while announcing a plan to once again fight for Chechen independence. "We have divided the Chechen Republic of Icheriya into three fronts and 16 sectors."

At least two volunteer Chechen battalions, including veteran soldiers from both the first and second Chechen wars, have taken up arms against Russia in Ukraine, including the Sheikh Mansur Battalion and the Dzhokhar Dudayev Battalion.

Both groups have been vocal in denouncing the leader of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, who was appointed to the post in 2007 by Putin and has brutally backed his war efforts against Kyiv.

Putin has empowered Jihadis to be the tip of his spear in the Ukraine.

Not a smart move that will result in thousands of dead Russians over the next 20 years.

Master military strategist - not.

The Chechen warlords have seen the weaknesses in Putin’s invasion abilities, and they, the Chechens, have the ability to succeed with a second front, forcing Putin to go after them or continue in Ukraine, buy he can’t do both.

I have no sypathy for the chechans but the war in the Ukraine is also likely to have bad consequences for the west as well.

in brief—I believe this is a lose lose war much like WWI for europe.

Grozny looked like Mariupol after the Rooskies finished with it.

From Wiki: “The 1999–2000 battle of Grozny was the siege and assault of the Chechen capital Grozny by Russian forces, lasting from late 1999 to early 2000. The siege and fighting left the capital devastated. In 2003, the United Nations called Grozny the most destroyed city on Earth.[10] Between 5,000[8] and 8,000 civilians[9] were killed during the siege, making it the bloodiest episode of the Second Chechen War.”

It could be fun as there are several bands of Chechens fighting for Russia in Ukraine, although those guys sided with the Russians in the Second Chechen War.

I wonder what the NATO/US response would be if Putin dropped a nuke on Kiev and Grozny?

I would prefer the Russian nuke their own Muslims. Both in their nests at home, and also in the so-called “Donbas” where they are killing Ukrainian Christians.

AN interesting bit of trivia - The Battle of Grozny is where the Soviets used the first known FAE. Basically a large propane tank with a fused explosive charge attached. It worked.

I agree with you. IMHO what the Russian/Ukraine war has shown is how weak the Russian Military is. Plus a lot of Russians do not have their heart in this war.

Any time now, Putin will be forced to ask China for “help”.

They will come and never leave.

Putin played right into Xi’s hands. Russia will be no more.

If it’s true, it’s very bad news for Russia. They are already overcommitted in Ukraine, they cannot handle anything else right now.

Russia has been empowering Jihadis for over 50 years, worldwide. It has come back to bite them in the behind a few times, but it has bitten the West more often, so I guess they think it’s a good trade.

Good! This is what Putin has achieved through his military aggression: 1) Isolation from Europe and the US, 2) Neutral Scandanavian countries eager to join the NATO alliance 3) The intense emnity of their neighbor Ukraine, 4) An unexpectedly high body and equipment loss, 5) Exposing to the rest of the world that he is a paper tiger. 6) Permanent loss of close by petrol customers once they are past the pain and readjust.
Chechnya is just piling on...

Bingo. As Ivan Vanko said in “Iron Man 2”:

“If you could make God bleed, people will cease to believe in Him… there will be blood in the water, and the sharks will come.”

The Ukrainians still have a long fight, but in the battle for Kiev, they made the Russian juggernaut bleed, that’s for sure.
