The good Samaritan who shot and killed the gunman who opened fire in the Greenwood Park Mall in Indiana on Sunday afternoon reportedly broke the property's policy against weapons.
The suspected shooter entered the mall on Sunday carrying a rifle and multiple magazines and opened fire in the food court, killing at least three and injuring three before he was shot to death. Greenwood Police Chief Jim Ison said the suspected shooter was killed by a "good Samaritan with a handgun."
While the armed bystander reportedly had a legal gun permit, the mall's property policy does not permit weapons on the premises.
The mall is owned by Simon Property Group, and the group's code of conduct, last updated in April of 2020, lists "No weapons" as number three.
The code of conduct also states: "All Simon shopping centers expressly retain the right to revise or modify this code of conduct as necessary. Any exceptions to this code of conduct will be determined by local center management in its sole discretion."
While it is unclear if the Samaritan will face any repercussions for breaking property policy by carrying a gun, Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers praised the person in a statement on Sunday night, saying: "Someone we are calling the 'Good Samaritan' was able to shoot the assailant and stop further bloodshed.

Nothing like finding the dark cloud in the silver lining, is there?
Breaking news: The pharisees condemn Jesus for healing someone on the Sabbath.
Do these Marxists really believe that evil evaporates if you write enough laws?
Remember the leftist is the biggest hypocrite. If them or one of their family members were saved from being shot they would be singing a different tune. Itβs always leftard agenda first unless it affects them personally.
Doesnt it illustrate why “no gun zones” dont make any sense. The bad guys dont pay attention to the laws....soooooo
Breaking ‘property policy’ is not the same as breaking the law.
If they wanted to ask him to leave they have every right to that, but he is not breaking any law.
But then where would they be today...???
Well that took longer than expected. ππ©
So did the bad guy, in order to go on a murder spree. He must not have seen the signs.
The good Samaritan who shot and killed the gunman who opened fire in the Greenwood Park Mall in Indiana on Sunday afternoon reportedly broke the property's policy against weapons.
It's a good thing.
Families of the three who were slain should sue the Mall Owners for negligent homicide. By declaring a “no gun” policy, it encouraged the shooter to bring his weapon to the Food Court and start shooting. Their negligence led to the death of 3, and the injuries of many. Let us start suing for negligence against the stupid signs. Obviously, the shooter failed to heed it, and thank God that the hero disregarded their stupid sign.
I suppose the mall could ban him for life. Great publicity.
The mall operators have already praised and congratulated him.
Oh no! Not the Mall Rules!
These people are just bitter morons.
They’d be Mopping up blood and guts
Dimocrap logic states that is OK to kill as many people as you can before the cops show up, but DO NOT shoot the shooter in self-defense to save lives. It has a habit of not fitting their agenda.
Just because its a rule doesn’t mean its a good rule.
Who would they rather have violate the property rule, the guy taking lives or guy saving lives? This is the 2nd amendment argument in a nutshell. Because there will always be someone ignoring the law, we have to be able to defend ourselves. Sometimes the guy violating the law is a crazy gunman, but sometimes it’s an authoritarian government. We must be ready for either one.
He faces arrest from the Simon Property Group mall police.
