Because I buy all my groceries at the gun store. Sheesh. You can’t make this stuff up.
Personally, I ain't buyin' it.
Nuts? Yeah there is something in the air in Uvalde that requires people to lie thru their teeth. Even the video from Inside the school is edited/cropped to hide the truth. I want to interview every one of those fakecops individually, w/o lawyers, by themselves , in a windowless room.
Start with everything involved with buying the rifle. The kid didn’t drive and state ID is required to fill out a 4473. What did he, or whoever signed, use? Nobody wants to talk to the dealer. Where did the ammo come from?
And from the gitgo I’ve been fascinated that the fakecops didn’t have a flashbang. One loud noise would have interrupted the punk.
Let me see ... are rifles kept next to the bread or were they stocked with the sauces?
Rifles are kept in the cereal aisle.
Where did he get the money?
Have to sling a lot of tacos to get that together.
Of course! Its the cereal numbers on them!
Even the briefest reading of the article will explain the food/gun conundrum so many here are mocking.
“On the first trip, the uncle indicated he “did not know they were going to pick up a rifle…the store is connected to a popular restaurant, and the attacker said he was hungry.””
Today’s 18-25 yr olds don’t drive because the parents will gladly chauffeur for them.
I stand by my original assertion. Another anti 2A false flag set up.
BS
The Uvalde murderer bought his rifles at the “Oasis Outback BBQ and Grille”, which apparently is both a restaurant and firearms/fishing/archery store. The owner says the killer looked like a normal guy (yeah right); “patrons” remember the kid as looking odd and seeming like a school shooter type.
Gun shop operators have to behave responsibly. If this one couldn’t discern that this buyer was exactly who you say “no” to, he’s not appropriate to hold an FFL.
Another place in Uvalde combines liquor and firearms, and has a sign with “Bottle” then a line over “Guns”. Seems to be an area where personal responsibility left town years ago...
If passing an NCIS check isn’t sufficient then what do you propose? If five million law-abiding people buy a gun how do you propose to identify the couple dozen in that group that will commit murder with it?
NCIS is absolutely NOT sufficient, and I suspect that the existence of NCIS is used as an excuse to go no further. NCIS checks might screen out some people with felony crimes or involuntary commitments to mental institutions (if agencies actually sent in the information correctly which demonstrably does not always happen). But there are always individuals with no record who have become depressed, gone Biden, etc., and mean to kill themselves or a spouse, or nowadays, do a spree shooting.
Gun dealers have to ask questions, especially of people they don’t know (double that for those who average folks think “look like a school shooter”, or otherwise seem off), to ferret out their intentions. Have you fired one of these before? Where? Who do you go with? Why do you, as a beginner, need this particular type of gun? Specifics about safety and storage. There are unlimited legit answers, but bogus/crazy ones will be obvious to someone who does this for a living. Saying no when answers don’t add up used to be standard operating procedure in America.
FFLs are licensed by the federal government and are acting as agents for the government. Your approach would eviscerate the Second Amendment by allowing such agents to exercise sole discretion as to who may keep and bear arms.
I don't have the exact numbers but my impression is that the number of FFLs, at least in Kalifornia, has decreased markedly in the last thirty years. As far as anti-gun progressives are concerned, this is a feature not a bug.
Do you really expect me to have to convince a WalMart clerk that I have a RIGHT to keep and bear arms despite having met all federal and state requirements? Are my rights to be subject to the whims of a person with green hair, a ring in his nose, and only a tenuous grasp of his own gender?
Subject your construct to the following scenario: Uvalde killer made up as “The Joker” and cackling like Kamala Harris shows up at the Restaurant/Gunshop and says he wants a high capacity semi-automatic rifle suitable for slaughtering all the children at the local school. It’s his dream to kill at least 50 and be famous on the internet. He passes NCIS check and fills out a form, while raving and foaming at the mouth. Should an FFL holder or anyone else sell him a firearm anyway? Of course not. But every sale is a judgment call, and the seller cannot be an amoral dispenser.
The 2nd Amendment does not relieve individuals of responsibility for making moral choices. FFL holders are licensed by the government (it’s debatable whether that requirement is constitutional), but are hardly “agents” thereof. Wal-Mart, etc. shouldn’t be selling firearms unless they have properly qualified and trained personnel, under proper supervision.
Liberty without responsibility does not work. America is awash with criminals and lunatics. Spewing guns to every idiot is exactly what will kill our 2nd Amendment rights.
Denser than a great big box of little bitty rocks of depleted uranium!
