Medvedev is definitely stepping up his rhetoric. The dog fight to succeed Putin has begun in earnest. That can only mean one thing.
I hope it means Pooty Poot is finally dying. That prick is on my ‘Champagne List’ and I’m looking forward to toasting his demise!
It is extremely frustrating to read your posts about anything Russia-related. I have the perception that you have a personal bone to pick with Russia, and there doesn't seem to be much consideration for the viewpoints and analysis of others.
I've never seen you mention that you've spent any time in Russia or interacted with actual Russians (forgive me if this is inaccurate), so it is hard to understand why you put down those of us who have.
Soviet occupation. The deportations were a Stalinist effort. At the time, Ukraine (Ukrainian SFR) was a constituent entity of the USSR, as was the RFSFR (Russia). Crimea was not part of the Ukrainian SFR but was in the RSFSR. Stalin was the head of the USSR (and sat in Moscow, sure), but Stalin was NOT himself Russian even a little bit. He was Georgian, as I am sure you are aware.
You can talk about Soviet brutality (and the purges were for sure brutal), but to attribute that behavior to the modern Russian Federation is beyond disingenuous.
No Mayak means Russians cannot maintain their nuclear weapons? I read something like that this year.
Today's Russia benefits from Stalin's Russification of Crimea. Putin would have zero claim to Crimea without so many more Russians and so many less of other populations. All due to Stalin era deportations of non-Russians from the Crimea.
"What did Stalin do to the Crimean peninsula? Stalin also forcibly deported smaller populations of Armenians, Bulgarians, and Greeks from Crimea, completing the ethnic cleansing of the peninsula. Hence, in 1954, Crimea was more “Russian” than it had been for centuries."
Existentially?
Lol, no I meant epistemically. See comment #54
not #54, I mean #60...
Yup. That’s what it means. Until Russia gets Mayak up and running again they’re slowly losing functional nukes. And just a few years ago they said they had about 1400 of them.
Thanks! You really know what’s going on :)
This stuff is heading towards a bad ending. I see no good solution.
I’m expecting Crimea to become an issue.
Hang on.
It’s crazy time.
I agree.
40-45 minutes after first button is pushed, it will become all too apparent.
And all too late.

Russia is the self identified successor state to the USSR. KGB Vlad is using the same murderous and genocidal (terror, torture, deportation, Russification, etc.) tactics as Soviets and Tsars before him. This is Russia at its rotten core and the leopard does not change its spots.
