Former President Donald Trump labeled Tesla CEO Elon Musk as a “bullshit artist” at his Alaska rally on Saturday, referring to Musk pulling out of his deal to buy Twitter as well as his claims about voting Republican. Here are some of the times that ultimate hypemaster Musk proved Trump’s characterization correct.
Former President Donald Trump had some choice words for Tesla CEO Elon Musk at his rally in Alaska on Saturday. Musk recently called off his $44 billion deal to purchase Twitter claiming that the company failed to disclose details about the number of bots on the platform.
During the Save America rally, Trump said: “One of our highest priorities under a Republican Congress will be to stop left-wing censorship and to restore free speech in America. And go out, by the way while I’m here and sign up now, for Truth Social. It’s hot as a pistol and you see that I called that one, right? Elon. Elon!”
Trump added: “He’s got himself a mess, you know, he said the other day, ‘I’ve never voted for a Republican.’ I said I didn’t know that. He told me he voted for me. So he’s another bullshit artist but he’s not going to be buying it, although he might later. Who the hell knows what’s going to happen? He’s got a pretty rotten contract. I looked at his contract, not a good contract. Sign up for Truth. We love Truth.”
As Trump points out, Musk has a habit of making grand claims that regularly fail to materialize. Here are a few of these
I don’t care if Musk is a BS artist or the most honest person on the planet. This country is falling apart, and there are hard times ahead. So I sure wish Trump would focus only on what’s truly important, and leave the petty sniping behind.
He may be a BS artist, but he’s our BS artist. At least he tries and puts his money where his mouth is (unlike politicians who make BIG promises and uses OUR MONEY to fail).
The guy is clearly a bum. He’s never done anything
Musk is a snake oil salesman who yells “Squirrel!” and points in another direction to buy time for his good ideas to come to fruition.
MOST of his snake oil works, not all does, but he’s 97% good, which is better than 97% of corporate america.
Musk is a promoter who talks big and comes up with a lot of ideas that don’t always work out. Does that sound like somebody else? No need to pit them against each other. They are more similar than different.
6. Earning a Phd from Stanford.
7. Digging holes to nowhere.
8. Terra forming Mars.
9. Being a father.
Who. Cares? Donnie, pick on the crooks destroying our Republic.
Sarcasm?
Maybe he’ll make another offer after twitter stock price crashes. Be funny if he buys it for 1/4 his original bid
Give me a break. Musk has accomplished far more than most Americans and their descendants unto the 10th degrees will cumulatively ever accomplish.
And as far as Trump being “petty”, people need to stop lying about Trump saying Musk isn’t going to buy Twitter. Look at what he actually said: “he might later. Who the hell knows...He got a rotten deal.” This is what a lot of people were saying. Trump aint wrong.
He comes out and says things like he'll be sending humans to Mars by 2028 and by 2050 there will be thousands of Starships launching every year and a colony with over 1 million people on Mars. This of course gets people ginned up and tons of investment funding rolling in.
So lets say he manages to cobble together a manned mission to Mars by 2040, and maybe there is a small outpost with 5 people by 2050...
Nobody is going to remember or care that his projections were wildly off, over a decade late and 5 people is nowhere near a massive city of 1 million. They only thing history will remember was he did what no nation or company did in the history of the Earth and put a human on another planet.
He’s quoted as saying “We take the impossible and make it late”. I admire the guy immensely and he’s developing multiple technologies so cutting him some slack is in order. And yes thank GOD he’s “our” Elon.
Yup.
A lot of historical American innovators have been BS artists and less than exemplary role models in their personal lives. Edison and Maxim are examples. Others out and out SOB’s like Ford and Rockerfeller. In some ways it may go with the territory.
“I’m going to drain the swamp”
“We’ll build the wall and Mexico will pay for it.”
Whether we admit it or not, we’ve all lied before. At the end of the day, like him or not, Musk could be a good ally.
Why doesn’t Trump say these things about Romney, Graham or McConnel? Instead, he endorses them. I don’t care much about what he says, but more about what he does. Because of “deeds not words”, Trump was a great president.
I just don’t understand the benefit of calling Musk a bs artist, but that’s just Trump’s personality. Unfortunately, it’s also why many people hate him. (Of course, most Trump haters would hate him anyway).
I don't care about Tesla, will never have one.
I don't care about Twitter/Hyperloop/neural lace/whatever Elon is into that isn't Starlink or Starship. Starlink will be/is, among other things, a backup Internet, in space. In that modern society is completely centered on the Internet, redundancy is safety.
We're drawing near to the day when that 400 ft tall stack of steel with a Starship upper stage in Boca Chica will either blast off into space on 33 + 6 rocket engines or possibly explode spectacularly. Either way they will learn more and get us closer to successful Mars missions.
The sooner we get to a self-sustaining human presence on Mars, the sooner we have a backup planet.
