Newly obtained emails confirm that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) changed its definition for both “vaccine” and “vaccinated” because people were pointing out that definitions did not seem to apply to the COVID-19 vaccines.
“The definition of vaccine we have posted is problematic and people are using it to claim the COVID-19 vaccine is not a vaccine based on our own definition,” Alycia Downs, a CDC official, wrote in an email on Aug. 25, 2021, to a colleague.
The definition is located on a page called Immunization Basics.
“Vaccine” was defined since at least 2011 by the CDC as a product that triggers immunity, according to archived versions of the page. Vaccination was described as an injection that prevents a disease. But a flood of inquiries on the definitions was triggered by the fact that the COVID-19 vaccines have been increasingly ineffective against infection by the virus that causes COVID-19, the emails show.
“Our question is how is the CDC and the rest of the world allowed to call the shot a vaccination when it doesn’t even meet your own definition,” one person wrote to the CDC. “Right-wing covid-19 pandemic deniers are using your ‘vaccine’ definition to argue that mRNA vaccines are not vaccines,” another said.
Both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are built on messenger RNA technology. They are two of the three COVID-19 vaccines available in the United States.
Downs and two colleagues, Allison Michelle Fisher, Cynthia Jorgensen, Valerie Morelli, and Andrew, no last name given, worked on changing the definitions for “vaccine” and “vaccination,” according to the emails.
The changes were pushed through on Aug. 31, 2021, and Sept. 1, 2021, respectively.
Changing Definitions
“Vaccine” used to be defined as: “A product that stimulates a person’s immune system to produce immunity to a specific disease, protecting the person from that disease. Vaccines are usually administered through needle injections, but can also be administered by mouth or sprayed into the nose.” It is now defined as “A preparation that is used to stimulate the body’s immune response against diseases. Vaccines are usually administered through needle injections, but some can be administered by mouth or sprayed into the nose.”
“Vaccination” was changed from “The act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce immunity to a specific disease” to “The act of introducing a vaccine into the body to produce protection from a specific disease.”
Attorney Travis Miller obtained some of the missives in 2021 and published screenshots of them. At the time, the CDC did not dispute their authenticity. The Epoch Times has obtained the emails, and additional messages concerning the changes, and has published all 67 pages of them.
The batch of emails, obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request, also shows that Andrew, no last name given, a CDC employee on the agency’s Vaccine Task Force, boosted a Washington Post article that downplayed criticism of the change.
“I’ve only seen a couple of inquiries about the change to this page. I think the WaPo article explains the problem well—that people are misinterpreting ‘immunity’ to mean 100% protection,” Andrew wrote.
“Thank you, Andrew! I really appreciate your response,” Downs replied.
A CDC spokesperson has told The Epoch Times that the “slight changes in wording” haven’t altered “the overall definition,” of “vaccine,” adding, “The previous definition at Immunization Basics | CDC could be interpreted to mean that vaccines were 100% effective, which has never been the case for any vaccine, so the current definition is more transparent, and also describes the ways in which vaccines can be administered.”
Some other portions of the CDC website still say COVID-19 vaccines confer immunity. One page, for instance, says that “Getting a COVID-19 vaccination is a safer and more dependable way to build immunity to COVID-19 than getting sick with COVID-19.”
It is now defined as “A preparation that is used to stimulate the body’s immune response against diseases. Vaccines are usually administered through needle injections, but some can be administered by mouth or sprayed into the nose.”

Terminology conundrum...
The article argues the merits of classifying the vaxx as a vaccine, but grants legitimacy when writing: ‘COVID-19 vaccines’.

This is not a vaccine. The jab using mRNA delivers mRNA in a nano lipid or fat envelope to a cell. It’s a medical device designed to stimulate a cell into becoming a pathogen creator by creating the known to be harmful spike protein.
Vaccine is (or was) a defined term in law and under CDC and FDA standards (conveniently changed late 2021). A vaccine has to stimulate an immunity in the person receiving it. And it must also disrupt transmission.
That’s not what this is. Even the drug manufacturers admit the jab or its mRNA does not stop transmission. The jab is a treatment, but if it’s discussed as a treatment it would not get the sympathetic ear of public health officials because people would ask what other treatments there are.
And alternative treatments would hamper FDA’s ability to issue emergency approval of the jabs. Defining the narrative with the term vaccine is a sucker punch to open and free discourse. “Vaccine” throws the discussion into one of pro/con vaccine.
The jab is a mechanical device in the form of a very small packet of technology inserted into the human system to activate the cell to become a pathogenetic spike protein manufacturing site. No basis exists to stipulate this is a vaccine.
Simply put, this is a chemical pathogen device meant to unleash chemical pathogen production within a cell. It’s a medical device, not a drug. The jab is not a living or biologic system, but rather a physical technology that just happens to come in the size of a molecular package.
First, if vitamin D3, taken in conjunction with a healthy, balanced diet, had been discovered before natural vaccines were discovered, then I wonder if medical history might have turned out better.
That being said, consider that the Supreme Court had decided the state-mandated smallpox vaccine case of Jacobson v. Massachusetts (1905) in the states's favor, probably taking into consideration that, unlike experimental CV19 jabs, the smallpox vaccine had been discovered and successfully used 100+ years before the case was decided.

Do not expect anti-vaxxers to admit they have have been wrong. It takes a person with confidence in their abilities to admit a mistake.
Anti-vaxxers feel discriminated being denied jobs and travel without vaccine document and that may be why they keep trying to post covid vaccines are harmful. Well, 260 million Americans have been vaxxed and I have not seen half a million (0.02%) dropping dead from vaccine in the news.
