NATO in ‘Secret Consultations’ to end Ukraine Crisis
theinteldrop.com ^ | July 9, 2022

Russian and Ukrainian diplomats held four rounds of talks to try to resolve the crisis in February and March, but stopped meeting after Kiev pulled out of negotiations as US and European officials announced that the conflict must be decided on the battlefield, and sent tens of billions of dollars-worth of military hardware and economic aid to Kiev.

The United States and its European allies are conducting “secret consultations” aimed at ending the Ukrainian crisis, Germany’s Welt newspaper has indicated.

In an commentary published Friday, former US ambassador to Germany John Kornblum and German journalist Rudiger Lentz claimed that the secret talks are intended to find a way to provide Russia with a “face-saving exit” from the crisis. Moscow, they suggested, is waging a war of nerves with the US and its allies, and “counting on war weariness in the West and anti-Western sentiment in the rest of the world” for support.

Kornblum and Lentz cited former West German Chancellor Willy Brandt’s strategy of ‘Ostpolitik’ with East Germany and the Soviet Union as a “classic example” of a diplomatic solution, but said that this policy had only been made possible after decades of Cold War confrontation, including the proxy conflict in Vietnam. They recommended a Reagan-style ‘peace through strength’ approach of military and economic pressure to force “the aggressor” to the table, and suggested that Europe should start by regaining control of the narrative on the Ukraine crisis.

The authors did not elaborate on how the West could ‘regain control of the narrative’. Russian media including Sputnik, RT and others have already been blocked across the European Union, while Facebook and Twitter pay close attention to their platforms to ensure that a pro-Ukrainian, anti-Russian narrative prevails. At the same time, mainstream media outlets from across the political spectrum in the EU and the US continue to echo government talking points about “Vladimir Putin’s aggression” and Russia’s “unprovoked and unjustified war on Ukraine.”

excerpted:

“..“We are told and hear today that we started the war in the Donbass, in Ukraine. No, it was started by the very same collective West which organized and supported an unconstitutional armed coup in Ukraine in 2014, and then encouraged and justified the genocide carried out against the people of the Donbass,” Putin said in a meeting with Russian lawmakers on Thursday.

Russia does “not reject peace talks,” Putin said. “[But those who do not must understand that the longer [the conflict drags on], the more difficult it will before them to come to an agreement with us,” he added...”

Face-saving exit will take large payoffs.

Cash money.

“the secret talks are intended to find a way to provide Russia with a “face-saving exit” from the crisis”

I’m nearly certain Russia doesn’t need that.

But Ukraine and NATO are desperate for just that.

European countries are on the brink of devastation and political upheaval.

To say nothing of the changes pending this fall in the US.

Russia should sit tight and not answer the phone.

When the war ends and our economy remains in the crapper, what happens to the dem midterm campaign? They need to keep the scapegoat Putin around until November.

Waste of time and false hope generation - Russian is doing what it historically does - invade, kill and conquer. It will not retreat until in is trounced on the battlefield, to prepare for the next time.

Not so secret anymore.

Didn’t CornPop just send another massive amount of money to them?

When all is said and done, I’m wondering where Zelensky and all his pals will be living and what the palatial estates will look like. I’m thinking Zelensky is the pricey, 2-story condo somewhere in Manhatton or LA, maybe a nice brownstone. Big city like NYC or LA and he’ll blend in like any other immigrant. But, one living in a multi-million dollar place, driving a Bentley.

What is the west afraid of? (Truth hurts)

It’s NATO that needs a face saving exit, their policies resulted in the almost total destruction of Ukraine as a viable entity and scores of needless deaths, not to mention the serious effects on western economies. All of this for what? Well the US did manage to get Germany to shut down nordstream 2 (at least for the time being), so US minimal objective was achieved. Too bad for Ukraine and Europe however.

“...former US ambassador to Germany John Kornblum and German journalist Rudiger Lentz claimed that the secret talks are intended to find a way to provide Russia with a “face-saving exit” from the crisis. “

If you consider Russia getting its fists constantly hit with Ukraine’s face losing, I suppose this artful story line of providing Russia with a face saving exit makes sense. If, however, you are sane and can see what is obviously happening there, the face saving is strictly reserved for Ukraine to save the piece that Russia has not taken and for Western Europe to get back to sucking up Russian gas again.

All the Russians need to do is offer Hunter $1 billion and unlimited prostitutesand blow. Then Russia can have as much of the Ukraine as they want. And Joe and Jill get a cool $100 million.

“the secret talks are intended to find a way to provide Russia with a “face-saving exit” from the crisis.”

Yep, just like we did with the Vietnamese, and most recently the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Mighty nice of us to let them save face the way we did...

You give the Russians to much credit. They have their problems just like the EU and the West have theirs. With any luck both sides will stumble into a ceasefire. But unfortunately a end to the conflict is a ways off.

Wonder how much US citizen taxpayer money will now be used to rebuild the country formerly known as Ukraine and how much US citizen taxpayer money (minus the vig for NATO, oligarchs, DerpState, US Congress, the Big Guy, and the M.I.C.) will be used to buy the Russian Federation a completely new weapons wardrobe to replace the tattered shit they started with?

Guessing more than enough to make all accounts paid in full, except for the US citizen taxpayer (of course).

Russia might be forced to negotiate by the end of the year. Maybe we’ll begin to see an end to the conflict after that.

When you are winning a war, why would you need a “face-saving exit?”

There is the West’s “propaganda war” and then there is Russia surrounding and destroying their enemy’s army and relentlessly smashing Ukraine into pieces.

This is what happens when there is no truth in international politics. Lots of innocent people die in a vain effort to keep political lies flowing.
