NYC Bodega Worker Who Fought Off Ex-Convict Freed Thanks to Reduced Bail

The Manhattan bodega worker held on a murder charge after an altercation with an ex-convict was freed Thursday thanks to reduced bail.

Jose Alba’s family posted the lowered sum with help from his boss following a court hearing, the New York Post reported Thursday.

The report continued:

Alba, 61, was sent to Rikers Island on a whopping $250,000 bail — half of what prosecutors with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office had requested at his arraignment Saturday night, claiming the worker was a flight risk because of a planned trip to the Dominican Republic next week.

Under state law, Alba would have had to be released Thursday as prosecutors had not yet presented the second-degree murder case to the grand jury — but they could delay the presentation if he was free on bail.

In January, Bragg informed staff members his office would not seek pre-trial detention or prison sentences for crimes other than homicide and some exceptional cases, according to Breitbart News.

The guy should be getting a Medal of Freedom, not bail. There’s no telling how many lives he saved taking that punk out.

He shouldn’t have to pay a penny in bail. He’s no flight risk and he shouldn’t be charged with any crime anyway. That Alvin Bragg is just an evil, hateful, racist black creep.

Can a NY governor fire a DA? Here in MO the governor apparently can’t touch the St Louis DA Kim Gardner.

A competent DA would have dropped charges by now.

But since The purp was the right color this man who clearly just defended himself must be ruined

Why was he even arrested and jailed in the first place, for defending himself a vicious, psychotic thug who was trying o kill him?

On Gutfeld Friday night, he said she could. I don’t know if he’s right, but it is what he said.

He also mentioned it would actually help her politically, and what was she waiting for?

Does Bragg have some dirt on her?

So the NY prosecutor has no problem prosecuting people—so longer as they are innocent.

The only reason he is being prosecuted is because he defended himself against a black man which is unconscionable and racist according to the Democrats.

In the meantime, 7 teenagers are still running free, after chasing down, and beating to death a 73 year old black man on a Philadelphia street, while whooping it up, and filming themselves.

I read somewhere else that there was a big outcry about Bragg’s policies.

My understanding is that he was planning a trip to the Dominican Republic and that’s the reason they were able to get away with considering him a flight risk.

I think that the issue is corruption, not competence.

In a sane world, he would have been applauded.

I imagine that when the societal pendulum swing the other way, there’s going to be h*** to pay for people like Bragg.
