The U.S. Has Now Spent More in Ukraine Than in the First 5 Years in Afghanistan

The United States is fighting a proxy war in Ukraine against Russian aggression, and we’re not doing it on the cheap. The Biden administration announced on Friday that we were sending another $400 million in military aid to Ukraine. This comes after Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed victory over the eastern Luhansk region last week.

Putin jumped the gun a little, although Russian troops hold the upper hand throughout most of the region. The problem for Putin is that those pesky Ukrainians refuse to surrender. And the United States is making their continuing resistance possible by giving Kyiv high-powered weapons to fight with.

To date, we’ve spent $8 billion in military assistance to the Ukrainian army with tens of billions of dollars in military hardware in the pipeline. Congress authorized $54 billion in military and other aid to Ukraine — some of which went to our NATO allies to help us defend Kyiv.

And therein lies the problem. According to the Council on Foreign Relations, NATO countries have not increased their military expenditures since Russia invaded Ukraine.

Trump is as right about the Ukraine as he was about Bill Barr.

Russia isn't the Taliban. Allowing Russia to win in Ukraine would have made a Russia-NATO war and a Chinese invasion of Taiwan would have been incalculably expensive.

I'm not a neocon or Zeocon. I've been a nationalist conservative for over two decades. Supporting Ukraine doesn't make me a neoconservative, globalist, or Biden supporter.
The US and NATO have stood behind Ukraine based on 1. The Budapest Memorandum, where the US, UK, and Russia promised to protect Ukrainian sovereignty in return for Ukraine giving up nuclear weapons. How is any country going to trust us or disarm, if we can't be trusted?
2. Since 1945, Europe has been relatively peaceful because invasions of other countries and annexation thereof was out of bounds. Putin's use of Hitlerite language calling Ukraine illegitimate cannot stand.
3. Putin has called the dissolution of the USSR the greatest disaster in world history. Invasion maps of Ukraine showed the plans to invade Moldova too. A war in Moldova could easily bring in their co-ethnics in Romania, which is a NATO country. And then we have the three Baltic Republics, which are part of NATO, and which KGB Russia desires.

Why do so many people here want China and Russia to win, and the US and NATO to lose?

You are an idiot. I don’t live in VT.

You must make a lot of incorrect assumptions in your life. That is sad.

Don’t play dumb. I have Freepers write me all the time thanking me for standing up and saying they are sick of the crazy anti Americanism.

Now i have to list it for you?

People repeatedly justifying attacks by Russia against America. Like saying their threat to seuze Alaska is justified.

People saying our own government is the enemy not Russia.

People wishing Russia to divide up Europe because Putin is an anti gay Christian hero. And yes wishing our NATO allies to be conquered is anti American as well as anti Western Civilization.

It’s endless. This is my country even when Biden is president.

Love it or leave it and put no foreign power ahead of my country or go to hell.

Let me add the idiot who said we are a racist country to help Ukraine because we don’t care about what happens in Africa.
