The Army has suspended a three-star general's contract and placed him under investigation after he posted a tweet that appeared to mock first lady Jill Biden, USA Today reports.
Retired Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky, the Army's former top spokesman, responded to a tweet from Biden that said the rights of women had been stolen in the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
"For nearly 50 years, women have had the right to make our own decisions about our bodies. Today, that right was stolen from us," Biden tweeted.
"Glad to see you finally know what a woman is," Volesky said.

How can his political “free speech” be “under investigation” if he is retired? Sure, his contract can be voided, “for cause” if so written or for a breech if so written or not renewed if so written but after that he should tell them that he is retired and speaking politically in response to a political comment.

I think public officials have to be more careful than normal people about what they tweet, post, or put on Facebook.
This is especially true of officers holding a commission who command armed forces.

I believe that Volesky was acting as a civilian with a government contract. So I donāt think it matters that he was once a general or not. Heāll keep his pension, but he will probably lose his civilian job.

Since when is the housefrau the Commander in Chief. By what authority does the Army have to investigate him for expressing a non military opinion on his own time about a cultural issue that 99% of sane folks in the US agree with. If Republicans were the Congressional majority, seems to me a hearing on who instigated this investigation and why might be in order.
