Voters sick of Biden, Trump may look to independent candidate in 2024 White House race
The Washington Times - ^ | July 6 | By Susan Ferrechio

Voters, unenthusiastic about a Trump vs. Biden rematch in 2024, are increasingly open to dumping the Republican and Democrat ticket entirely for an independent candidate.

Two recent polls show a majority of Republican, Democratic and independent voters would consider a “moderate independent candidate” for president if President Biden and former President Trump run again in 2024.

“Our observed aversion to the former and current president as voters begin thinking about 2024 tickets is a major opening for an independent presidential ticket,” Mark Penn, chairman of the Harvard-CAPS Harris Poll, which conducted the two surveys, said.

The poll of registered voters, taken at the end of June, found that 60% would consider an independent candidate in 2024 if Biden and Trump are their respective party’s nominees in 2024.

Among Democrats, the number rose to 64%, while 53% of Republicans said they’d weigh an independent candidate. Among independent and other unaffiliated voters, the number shot up to 66% who are willing to give an independent candidate a close look.

I don’t think the republicans were ever a third party, when they formed in 1854 the Whigs were only 22 years old.

The republicans simply replaced the Whigs. Two years after the republicans first met in 1854, John Fremont came in second in the 1856 presidential race, the “know Nothings” “third party” came in a distant third with 8 electoral votes. The Whigs were pre civil war America, the party only lasted 22 years itself (1833 to 1856). The Republicans held their first convention on July 6, 1854 and four months later held 19% of the Congress and 25% of the Senate, six years later they held the majority in the Congress, the majority in the Senate, and they had the Presidency. The Republicans were never really a third party at all.

Amnesty is not a solution. Didn’t work under Reagan. And that number Rand quoted has swelled much larger than that since 2013 and was already larger than that at the time. Not even legal-citizen “Hispanics” want the illegals here, and we would employ their help in getting them out; it’s only the RINOs that call the notion of expulsion “laughable”, which does not require a roundup of the guilty invaders.

Who the heck is Ferrichio to come up with this childish observation. Usually something like this is talked about almost immediately, not after finding out how popular our President Trump is.

Every time something like this is discussed, Trump’s numbers go up.

In Missouri, Jack Danforth is running ads supporting an independent candidate in our Senate race this fall.

Missouri Stands United

I don't expect it will go anywhere. The guy they've rounded up to run is a guy named John Wood, who is an attorney working on the Jan 6 committee. He'll take more votes from the Democrat, if they don't make him drop out.

Yeah, that’s one way to think of it.

Actually, our system can only sustain two parties.
One party that is oriented toward decentralization, another oriented toward more government intervention\centralization.
Essentially its Antifederalists against Federalists under different names. Over time the names have switched, changed, reversed but it always comes down to that.

Libertarians tend toward a French version of freedom as license which eventually leads to the powerful killing the weaker. Nah. When Libertarians mature into the classical type of conservatism, we will have a huge voting majority.

It would give them the plausible talking point that the Repub vote was split, then they’d cheat like crazy to make it happen.

And I mean plausible to the American dummie. The one alone in his car wearing the mask.

Trump is the only candidate who can win and who knows how to get us out of this mess.

Well, DeSantis could but we can get more conservative wins with Trump first 4 yrs, the DeSantis second 8 ys.

Is Susan Ferrechio auditioning to be the GOPelitest press secretary?

She many want to recount, as she seems out of touch with the real world.
