Highland Park July 4 shooting suspect had two prior incidents of suicidal, violent threats, police say

The suspect in the Highland Park, Illinois July 4 mass shooting that killed seven and injured dozens had two "prior incidents" before the massacre, police said on Tuesday.

Robert "Bobby" E. Crimo, 21, was taken into custody Monday evening after gunning down revelers from a rooftop perch at the Highland Park July 4 parade.

Speaking to reporters at an afternoon press conference, Christopher Covelli said Crimo had two prior incidents before the shooting.

In April 2019, an individual called police a week after learning of Crimo attempting suicide, Covelli said. The matter was handled by mental health professionals with no law enforcement, he added.

In September 2019, a family member reported Crimo had a collection of knives and "was going to kill everyone," Covelli said. Police responded to the incident and seized 16 knives, a dagger, and a sword from Crimo’s possession, Covelli said. Highland Park police notified Illinois State Police of the incident but no further actions were taken.

Despite these incidents, Crimo managed to legally buy two high-powered rifles and three other weapons that have since been recovered by officers from his father’s home. Covelli said there was no sign he had any guns at the time of the 2019 incident, nor had he any application pending for a gun.

I’m curious as to what actions people would like to be taken when it comes to a young man like this. Lock him up for vague threats? Prevent him from ever buying a gun? Mental hospital until he’s cleared by a doctor?

“ Despite these incidents, Crimo managed to legally buy two high-powered rifles and three other weapons”

Yes. When he was under 18 y/o. Juvenile history is sealed to gun dealers when he turns 18

Tge Matthew mcconahey won’t address this. Not in their contract.

What the uncle really said...”I don’t want to be involved. I know nothing”.

Born September 20, 2000.

He would have been at least 18-19 years old.

I know we are not supposed to say certain things, but, one look at these photos you can tell something is wrong with this little prick.

Which doesn’t mean anyone who goes out of his way to have an extreme appearance will become a mass murderer. So there’s that.

Is this the first time hes ever been in trouble with the law?

“Really?? But what about the uncle and family saying they had no idea he was a threat to anyone?”

What do you expect the uncle to say: “Yes, I knew he was going to shoot a bunch of people but I decided not to say anything until afterwards.”

The uncle had to invoke plausible deniability.

Nice police work..

"There was no probable cause to arrest Crimo at the time because none of his relatives signed complaints regarding the incident, according to Covelli."

Do the math. 18.5 on April 1, 2019, the time of the first incident. Time of the second incident 18-19.

“Born September 20, 2000.

Yes. If all the reporting is correct.

People who
Want to take guns away will not focus on this person, the circumstances surrounding his ability to legally get guns. That is what’s needed.

Look at the veracity of the dates first, then find out why a guy with that record is able to legally get any king of weapon.

A common denominator with these killers seems to be that they are allowed to live at home with their parents as adults with no or little income and no expectations. They are in the prime of their lives but they are wasting those years playing video games in the basement, watching TV, bumming around with part-time dead-end jobs and hanging out with equally listless friends - if they even have any.

This is not healthy.

When our children got out of high school, we required that they start paying us rent and they had plenty of chores to do around the house. They got out on their own pretty quick and thus never had an opportunity to become shiftless bums.

.
An article today said that Crimo immersed himself in Social Media at 11.

Add in his drugs and trans wannabe, and it’s not surprising.

This guy wasn’t at the gun range - he was doing drugs, listening to Hip Hop, and cross dressing.

I repeat myself because the Media will make him out to be a Gun Collector and Pickup Truck driver.

.

This is the type of person who, back in the 1960s, would be sent to a mental institution for observation.

Today those mental institutions are closed. Almost every mass shooter from the 1970s till now would have been in such a facility, IF they were still open.
