Conventional wisdom says that in a protracted war of attrition between Russia and Ukraine, Russia would win. Still doesn’t make it right.

Russia may “win” in Ukraine but it has already suffered a catostophic strategic defeat that it cannot reverse. This war has demonstrated to the world that Russia’s conventional military is not the fierce juggernaut that was once so feared. NATO now realizes that Russia could never sustain successful offensive operations against it. The geopolitical ramifications are immense. China now knows that the Russian FarEastern/Pacific underpopulated rich territories and Siberian cannot be defended. China has always coveted those lands. Without the nuclear deterent, which is a very risky defense, Russia would be much smaller.

I was hoping you’d post a picture of yourself. You look more intelligent than your posts would suggest.

a protracted conflict

Just like the Vietnam proxy war against Russia/China.

25,000 Russian soldiers would be happy, if they were still alive.

“Ukraine’s military intelligence chief Kyrlo Budnov said his defence forces had withdrawn “to advantageous positions in order to gain tactical superiority” after the Russians razed the city to the ground.

Nina Bondar, who was evacuated from Lysychansk, said: “The city doesn’t exist any more. It has practically been wiped off the face of the Earth.”

Really? Excellent ariel video of Lysychansk that clearly gives the lie to Ukraine’s claim.

Aerial view of #Lisichansk.
It’s reported that the city suffered only minor damage as there wasn’t much street fighting

Ukraine invasion turning into protracted war that Russia will win, experts warn

What would we do without experts to tell us the obvious?

Sure, Russia will win. But it will be a long and incredibly painful win, one which has already bled them and weakened them and one which will deter them from any further Western military adventures for decades.

Yeah.
When somebody who can build their own weapons and ammo fights someone who can’t, they tend to win the war in the long run.

As long as Russia's nuclear weapons and delivery systems are still a credible deterrent to any Chinese ambitions towards the Russian Far East/Siberia, China can only continue the slow invasion currently taking place.

China plays the Long Game and Putin is not long for this world. Russia is currently distracted in the West, but selling oil and other resources to China and India in the East and South.

But make no mistake. If Putin or his successor(s) believe the Motherland to be under threat, either from China or some kind of foolish NATO land war, they will go nuclear.

And while China can absorb massive population and industrial losses, Western Europe and the US cannot.

Poking the Russian Bear without a credible deterrent and a strong leader (certainly not laughable PedoClown) willing to pull the trigger, well, only invites ambition and risks losing everything.

Nice selfie.

Russia has no power to support a war of attrition.
