The Battle of Athens was an armed rebellion led by WWII veterans and citizens in Athens and Etowah, Tennessee, United States, against the tyrannical local government in August 1946.
13 minute clip
Some of our locals are creating a historical event around the battle here. We are proud of our history.
Spoiler alert: The Politican/Crook got away by sneaking into an ambulance.
If the government wasn’t legitimate, was it a rebellion, or simply a restoration?
I confess I never researched that nor cared . . . . thanks.
I love that story.

I just posted the link to the movie.
There is a full length movie from which the clip is taken and as well as I can remember ...... all of those negative words were attributed to Cantrell and all the minions surroundin him.
The result of rescuing the ballot boxes was a legitimsate vote count that led to the veterans being elected to office.
The veterans were heroes and successful politicians.
It needs to be said:
The ones who perpetrated the election fraud were democrats.
I watched it some years ago, but I always post this short clip because too many people will not, or can not . . take time to absorb the entire atmosphere of 1946.
The similarities are astounding (imo)
Thank you
The most detailed and historically accurate version.

The movie has the setting in Texas, but it’s the Athens, TN, story.
