As Ukraine war bogs down, U.S. assessments face scrutiny
Washington Post ^ | July 2, 2022 | Dan Lamothe and Karoun Demirjian

Posted on 07/03/2022 9:39:52 PM PDT by Mount Athos

President Biden said the United States is “rallying the world to stand with Ukraine” and pledged to support the cause “as long as it takes.”

U.S. officials have downplayed the (Russian} gains, calling them halting and incremental.

The scrutiny is fueled by U.S. government assessments of other wars, notably in Afghanistan, where officials habitually glossed over widespread dysfunction and corruption and sidestepped questions of whether battlefield successes were not only achievable but sustainable.

A Ukrainian lawmaker shared similar concerns.

“We are losing the most valuable thing, our soldiers and officers.”

Benjamin Friedman, a policy director at Defense Priorities, said that the stated objective of Ukraine to push Russian forces out seems “increasingly unrealistic” and that the Biden administration must do more to press Ukraine to negotiate with Russia and strive for a political settlement.

“I think we should be doing more to pressure them, and I think we’re sort of doing a disservice not just to regular Ukrainians, but to a lesser extent Americans and everyone else who is suffering economic problems because of the war.”

Friedman said the U.S. government is “spinning for Ukraine for the obvious reason that we are rooting for them.”

“Think of the prognosis on how long the Afghan government would hold after the August 31st withdrawal date,” Meijer said.

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) said the United States cannot resign itself to a “prolonged never-ending conflict that is wreaking havoc on the American economy and the global economy.”

“People don’t want to see a resigned attitude that this is just going to go on as long as it’s going to go on. What is the plan on the diplomatic front?”

Several noted billionaires, in their wishful thinking aloud, have said for decades that there would be no more wars. They wanted to continue to enslave Americans in a “service economy” and subject us more to foreign tourists than producing what we need. Foreign communist/fascist slaves are perceived by them as being much more subservient and controllable.

They were incorrect.

Libertarians are the globalists. It is they who wanted the current flood of humanity to the U.S. from the more corrupt regions around the equator. I haven’t looked recently, but the desire for open borders was written in their platform long ago.

They dislike wars but not for the right reasons. They simply don’t want changes in markets, and they don’t want a revival of manufacturing and other production in countries like the U.S.A. They want to rule the world with autocracy.

When virtually the entire BidenIdiot government agencies, to include all branches of the military, law enforcement, and the intelligence community, are engaged neck deep in diversity, inclusion, wokeism, alphabet soup garbage, cleaning out alleged ‘white supremacists’, political ideology bias, etc., etc., etc., any type ‘assessment’ or ‘assessing’ is going to be behind the curve and adversely and/or seriously flawed.

Scrutiny, actual real scrutiny along with actual accountability, is going no where till Repubs take over both the House and Senate come Nov midterms. And even then, given the sheer amount of RINOs and weak and feckless Repubs, I would argue that ‘scrutiny’ will be nothing more than tokenism.

Bullshit. You’re being a pretentious asshole.

Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury: Here you have the prima facie evidence that Gene Eric is incapable of conducing a civil conversation.

My insistence that mere statements of opinion were worthless without evidence and logical arguments to back them up apparently struck a nerve.

In resorting to name-calling and obscenity, Gene Eric has disqualified himself from further consideration as a reputable partner for discussion.

I feel dread when I think of Kevin McCarthy being speaker of the house. I think most people do not understand at all how much power is concentrated in that position.

It’s the same dread I felt when Paul Ryan was about to take over the position unopposed when Trump was in office. Maybe I’m wrong, but I sense he will constantly betray us while pretending to be for us.

What institutions have not been totally corrupted?
I see the FBI keeping files on and monitoring those who speak out at PTA meetings, as if they were the worst criminals for caring about their kids education.

Our federal law enforcement is weaponized to destroy political opponents. We have Jan 6th show trials and political prisoners languishing and their lives destroyed.

How do we fix things when our elections are totally corrupted by Zuckerberg and his Dem operative pals?
Fox news totally bans discussion of it, except to ridicule the issue and insist there is “no evidence”.

The Medical establishment gives unanimous approval to systematically injecting babies to give pfizer megabux profits, when they really have no idea about safety and long term consequences.

In Canada you can’t even go to any airport if you’re not vaccinated, today. Even though the vaccine does nothing at all to stop the spread of infection. They cancelled the bank accounts of those who protested.

They drive us from one fake scare calamity to another to shake free tens of billions of dollars in government spending, because each time they do so the kickbacks are showered all around.

And then there’s our insane energy policy, perfectly in opposition to our national interest.

Our foreign policy is just sick and deranged.

And yet none of it matters as much as how fast immigration will destroy us. Somehow I don’t post about that enough.

I’m still rooting for a Russian victory, just to jack slap Biden, the Bu$h league neocons, the atheists and sexual deviants who run the EU, radical feminists, $oros type globalists, etc. Putin must be doing *something* right because he pisses off the aforementioned human debris!

I even hope Russia gets strong enough to conquer not only Ukraine, but also the Baltic states, Finland, and Poland—and DARE the western world’s banksters, gender benders, God haters, and homosexuals to do something about it! Which won’t happen as long as that election stealing p.o.s. is “president” of the USA—because half the American people—the warrior half at that—won’t fight for a cultural Marxist who steals elections!

Russia is going to run out of troops soon. At that point, Putin will have to decide whether he is going to mobilize. Ukrainians hate the Russians. They are fully mobilized so they can take more casualties than Russia. It is a war of national survival for them.

You are delusional. Baghdad-Bobism is for small children, not adults.

I realize the Globalists/Deep State Neocon Warmongers are in a bind. They thought they could crush Russia economically and that failed miserably. So now Ukraine - which they pushed into this fight with Russia - is losing despite the flood of cash and weapons from the West.

The Globalist response is to just keep doubling down because to do otherwise is to suffer a massive spectacular humiliation and loss of power. In the meantime, Ukraine is running out of cannon fodder. Also, Western economies are coming under enormous strain due to trying to cut off one of the world’s biggest commodity suppliers ie Russia. That will have political consequences.

There won’t be regime change in Russia. There will however be at least quasi regime change in the US this November just like there already has been in France. Let this carry on for a while longer and there will be full blown regime change everywhere in the West.

Also its funny this article is saying the Biden regime needs to “push” the Ukes into seeking a peaceful settlement when its been the Biden regime along with Boris Johnson who has categorically forbidden the Ukes from seeking a peaceful settlement to this point. The choice is this, admit failure or the Ukes run out of men and/or the West runs out of money. You can only double down on failure for so long.

The Democrats, as usual, are the party of tough-talking surrender monkeys.

Now that Biden has failed you, have you considered getting behind Washington politicians who will give your war position full throated support?

I wish I could argue with this but it is impossible to have any confidence in Kevin McCarthy. Cleaning the RINOs out is a process that will take years, not just one primary season or one election. We’ve made good progress so far this primary season though we have by no means gotten rid of all the RINOs.

So we’re stuck with McCarthy for now and we’ll be stuck with the Turtle’s designated successor Thune in the Senate.

The solution is to bag a bunch more RINOs in 2024. After two successive election cycles when a lot of RINOs have been purged, the remaining ones....even if they’re 50% of the surviving Republican office holders will start to get the message and fear for their own job security. This fear will make them far less likely to stab us in the back as usual. We don’t have to bag every single last RINO to see a significant change in behavior from “Republican” majorities in the House and Senate. We just need to bag enough of them.

P.S.: We can both expect to get “flamed” because we don’t “stand with Ukraine.” There’s still a lot of neocon DNA hard wired into the conservative/Republican community. President Trump couldn’t exorcise all of our people’s Bu$h league tendencies.

Fortunately the vast majority of red blooded Americans still recognize Buttgag, Xiden, Piglosi, “Dr.” Falsie, etc. as far greater threats to our freedom than Putin will ever be. So far they’re refusing to “rally ‘round the commander in chief” on the Ukraine issue. Roll over in your grave, John McCain!

Excellent point.

I think we are seeing some 're-positioning' going on.

As the US Treasury and (perhaps) Defence department factions increasingly seek to detach from the Ukraine war (while the State Dept of course hangs on for grim death), we will see the blame for the eventual defeat being pushed onto 'that warmonger Zelensky'. The puppet will get the blame.
