Cameron asking Supreme Court to reinstate trigger law
The State Journal ^ | 7/3/2022 | Mark Maynard

Attorney General Daniel Cameron is asking the Kentucky Supreme Court to reinstate Kentucky’s Human Life Protection Act and Heartbeat Law and end abortions in the state.

Cameron filed a Writ of Mandamus and Prohibition with Kentucky’s highest court that responds to a temporary restraining order issued last week against the laws by Jefferson Circuit Court Judge Mitch Perry.

The circuit court’s temporary restraining order against the Human Life Protection Act and the Heartbeat Law allowed abortions to resume at two Kentucky abortion clinics, EMW and Planned Parenthood.

The same day the court issued the order, Cameron asked the Court of Appeals to reinstate the laws. The court denied the motion on Saturday and Cameron said he would immediately ask the Supreme Court to take action.

“We are exhausting every possible avenue to have Kentucky’s Human Life Protection Act and Heartbeat Law reinstated,” Cameron said. “There is no more important issue than protecting life, and we are urging the state’s highest court to consider our request for emergency relief.”

The sad thing is that even with a win it will be of no help to the innocent babies who were killed. :-(

If this fails a constitutional amendment is on the ballot for November, but again, that doesn’t help the children that will be lost in the mean time. :-(

Cameron should be on the ticket for Federal office...but clearly he is NEEDED now in his present position.

Asking - begging - the court for permission to enforce laws duly passed by the legislature. That’s where we find ourselves today as we celebrate our independence.

How is the Human Life Protection Act and Heartbeat Law called the “Trigger Law?” It makes sense to me when we are talking about our 2nd Amendment freedoms.

The law went into effect upon the overturning of Roe v. Wade - that’s why it is being called the “trigger law” by the media.

Cameron’s 36, we’re hoping to elect him Governor of Kentucky next year as a Republican. Please allow us Kentucky Republicans to have fun next year talking to the liberals:

“You’re not going to vote for Cameron for Governor? ARE YOU A RACIST?!
Don’t you know it would be historic? Why are you against diversity and progress?”

Cameron is Attorney General and he shows that wonderful Trump, DeSantis quality of not being intimidated by liberals and going right at them. The National Republican Party should do everything possible to help him. Well spoken, not media shy, surprised I haven’t seen him on Fox yet. Black conservatives make the liberals’ heads explode.

You’re right. It’s amazing. Lawless Dem-appointed judges are dreaming up ways to keep abortion legal in their states in plain defiance not only of the SCOTUS judgment in Dobbs but also of the will of the voters and elected representatives in their states. It’s exactly the sort of tyranny that caused the Founders to revolt.

Me, too. Me, too!

It’s so odd...I moved to west central PA more than 20 years ago...Besides my other expectations, I expected I would meet and enjoy all people of all races and I would be able to share our views about virtually everything. My concept was based on the fact PA has been around as long as the Constitution.

I have been in this little town a long time and have yet to speak to any one other than a white person. Geez.

The SCOTUS ruling on RvW “triggers” certain states to sign into law anti-abortion measures that have been sitting there waiting for SCOTUS’ ruling. Nothing to do with guns. The trigger is/was SCOTUS action.

The subversive nature of “between her and her doctor” of what should at least be between her and her God or Country has not been discussed enough.

A doctor is a tool, not a god. What is going after Covid is this sort of doctor is god activism that completely subverts our constitution

Jan6 is peanut compared to this high treason activism

“Asking - begging - the court for permission to enforce laws duly passed by the legislature.”

When you put it that way, it reveals the truth of the matter. I’m disappointed in these judges.

I’d rather see them defending life rather than convenience.

>> How is the Human Life Protection Act and Heartbeat Law called the “Trigger Law?” <<

They were passed with the awareness that Roe vs Wade, illegitimate as it was, was the controlling law, so that to protect them against being thrown out by a court citing Roe vs Wade, they were written so that they would become law only after Roe vs Wade was ever rescinded. That is, they would be “triggered” by Roe vs Wade being rescinded.

Fun fact, which I once used to point out to anti-Catholic protestants claiming it was idolatry to “pray” to saints:

The legal term for “begging” is this case is
“praying.” As in what you file is a “prayer” to the court.
