Do mask mandates work? Bay Area COVID data from June says no.
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | June 29, 2022 | Eric Ting

In early June, during an uptick in COVID-19 cases, Alameda County was the only Bay Area county to bring back an indoor mask mandate.

At the time, county Health Officer Dr. Nicholas Moss said, “Putting our masks back on gives us the best opportunity to limit the impact of a prolonged wave on our communities.”

But regional case data provides no discernible evidence that the rule, which was lifted June 25, succeeded at that goal.

“If the mandate came with enforcement of wearing a good (N95 or equivalent) mask correctly, it might demonstrate a significant advantage in preventing cases,”

All mandates are bad, but worse are the morons I see all over my part of the world wearing a filthy disposable mask everywhere they go - I don’t get their reasoning - when will they stop wearing the worthless disposable and cloth diapers?

I think masking gives people a sense that any other preventable behavior isn’t necessary.

You still need to wash your hands.
You still need to avoid touching your face, which is hard if you continually fiddle with a mask.
You still need to stay home if you are sick.

Yes to the filthy disposables. The masked covidian in my office has a rash on the bridge of his nose. I thought maybe he put down the gaming console and went outside and got sunburned. When I approached him to see what he’d been up to, it was an obvious rash with acne along the line where the mask sits.

A pox on anyone who falls for that crap again. I was reluctantly willing to give the benefit of the doubt before. I still wouldn’t wear the mask, just mostly stayed home. Upon the realization that it was all BS, I refused to wear one.

Mask mandates work great if you understand their purpose is to condition obedience and identify resisters.

ANOTHER plumbing of data reveals what every previous study has concurred, that the use of masks to battle Covid is useless.

The summary of many other studies reveal that the better avenues to battle Covid are losing weight, bolstering the
immune system (but not with Frankenstein mRNA mutagens,) staying young, and employing cheap pharmaceuticals (HCQ,
Ivermectin, monoclonal antibodies, other anti-parasitics with big doses of zinc.)

That’s because they aren’t masks.

They’re muzzles.

And Deep State thinks the muzzles work just fine.

I really think you are on to something:

In the NYC metro area there are still alot of people who believe that COVID is, if not an existential threat, is going to be a worse illness than they’ve ever experienced in their lives. By the same token, they don’t want to be shut ins. Their solution?: wear a worthless thin cloth that gives them the illusion of being protected from the COVID boogeyman.

On the NYC subway we are still supposed to mask, but on any given weekday there are at least 25% of us who don’t wear one and even more not wearing it properly. On Saturday nights, non maskers are often 50% or more on the train. It’s on odd contrast to the 1 out of 6 (per my rough estimate) who still voluntarily mask outside everywhere they go in Manhattan.

The problem with masks are the effective kind are not being worn and worn correctly. They probably make the problem worse. I know people who carry one in their pocket and then use it when needed subjecting themselves to contamination. A better mask program would have targeted those most at risk showing theproper way to wear KN95 masks.

This might be a silly thought but here goes.

Is it possible that mouth breathers contract covid at a higher rate than nose breathers?

I breathe almost exclusively through my nose. And I have to blow my nose every morning due to pollen and dust.

But the mucus traps things like viruses too.

I doubt anyone has ever done a serious study. I did a search and found nothing.

Ok, flame away!
