A judge in Louisiana temporarily blocked three state laws that would ban virtually all abortions on Monday.
The abortion bans were set to take effect if the Supreme Court ever overturned Roe v. Wade, which it did on Friday. Several states across the country have enacted similar laws, known as "trigger laws."
Orleans Parish Civil District Court Judge Robin Giarrusso issued the temporary block shortly after abortion providers in the state filed a lawsuit, according to the order.
Abortion groups, represented by the Center for Reproductive Rights, argue the abortion restrictions violate providers' due process rights and "lack constitutionally required safeguards to prevent arbitrary enforcement."
The groups also argue that the laws are overly vague, as they do not include a specific start date beyond the end of Roe.

Utah judge just did the same thing.. and ACLU has filed to stop Kentuckys also....
I thought Dobbs was to get the courts out of abortion and back to the people… not the local courts
Maybe someone on here that might be familiar with that French legal system they have down there, but where does one parish(county) judge have the juice to pull this off?
Has the AG stepped in to let her know she doesn’t have the authority?
Have the people of the parish started a recall petition?
Have the judicial committee in the legislature started drafting impeachment papaerwork?
I’m so sick of these judges pulling this crap
The SC ruling was clear and unequivocal. This judge and everyone else who does this should be removed from the bench and disbarred…
Hey I know, let’s find out where these judges live and picket their houses! Yeah, that’s it! The precedent has been set that you can do that!
“.... as they do not include a specific start date beyond the end of Roe.”
Seems pretty specific to me.
Oops. Never mind…
These are state judges.
All they’re doing is prolonging the inevitable.
Parish judges dont, state courts do.
The LA issue will be quickly overturned.
It’s nothing bet an attempt to circumvent the SC ruling through other challenges to Roe v Wade. Think of it as the anti death penalty delaying their clients’ execution through dozens of trivial challenges.
If these little weenie “judges” can block a SCOTUS decision the SCOTUS should be able to keep those miniature robed chimpanzees from breathing our air.
Judicial tyranny.
Nobody said “When”; So we’ll get around to complying with the law when we’re ready.
The overwhelming majority of these trigger laws and laws banning abortion were written and passed for political reasons and for headlines. No other purpose. None of them were ever expected to go into effect. As a result they’re all badly written for the most part and filled with errors and loopholes. Get the legislatures back into session, do their job properly, fill in the holes, close the loopholes, correct the errors, and you’re good to go.
