Shannon Vavra Mon, June 27, 2022, 11:14 AM Ukrainian State Emergency Service / Handout/Anadolu Agency via Getty Ukrainian State Emergency Service / Handout/Anadolu Agency via Getty Russia fired a series of rockets at a shopping center in Kremenchuk, Ukraine, on Monday, raising alarm bells that Russia is stepping up its attacks on civilian structures regardless of the loss of life.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Monday there were more than a thousand civilians inside the shopping mall and the casualties to come might bring even more shock and horror to Ukrainian people already confronting so much death and destruction as Russia has been waging war in Ukraine for 124 days.

Thank you for the red pill kiryandil. Today I didn’t wake up in a pod in the matrix, all grumpy and stuff. Great info, and I’m glad I asked. More people should. Thanks again.

She pretends to be for Ukraine but is cheering on its total destruction. What the hell is wrong with these people?

All this because Zelensky was pushing for NATO membership.
It's called freedom and self determination.

No kidding. My heart bleeds for the Ukrainian people who are told by Zelensky that they are winning, and to keep on fighting.

Memo to Zelensky: You are never becoming NATO member. Just admit it was a blunder to push for NATO membership and go negotiate with Russia before many more innocent Uke’s are slaughtered.

Yeah Cuba thought the same thing. Then US navy blockaded all Cuban ports, and wisely Cuba surrendered Soviet weapons. But Ukraine leaders are not that smart.

Home-erotic dancer Zelensky either does not learn from history or is just a dumb ego-maniac. He should learn from history that countries who consider themselves superpowers, do not tolerate weapons of enemy camp on their border.

Do you mean like in Norway, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Poland? Are they next?

I suspect Zelensky rues the day Ukraine agreed to give up its nuclear weapons. If Ukraine still had them, Putin would never have invaded. It would be wise for South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan to learn this lesson. Ditto for Poland, Sweden, and Finland. A nuclear armed world is a more polite world.

NATO has zero to do with any of this. NATO with its low defense budgets was not an offensive threat to Russia. Russia makes land grabs. Land grabs are the entire story. Zelensky is not the story. Putin is a criminal and a little Stalin wannabe. That is the story.

Cuba wasn’t looking to join an alliance of self defense.

Your bad understanding of history along with your cheap childish insults, are an embarrassment to FR.

It’s disgusting and evil what is going on with this war, with the media and our politicians lying about everything. I’m just wondering how long voters both here and in Europe will put up with the continuing inflation before they start raising hell.

Ukraine has already lost close to 80% of its best trained fighters, I imagine many of those left will soon begin deserting. The only thing left will be a US funded insurgency. How many more billions will we dump there when both the US and Europe are bankrupt? We have the most incompetent bunch of elites running this country that I’ve ever seen during my lifetime. They are literally running us into the ground.

Ukraine never had the launch codes for those nuclear weapons, what good would they have been?

You are so low IQ who thinks Ukraine can just make their own rules in the name of freedom. Mr Low IQ, you do NOT get to make such rules when you live next to a much stronger neighbor. Ukraine is getting butt kicked for not learning this simple rule of how world operates.

Probably Ukes did it for the PR. They have done these things several times.

Nah. That's the Kremlin line, already getting their excuses in early. We had one of their mutts on our TV news saying the place was empty, nobody shopping there, who'd be shopping on a Monday anyway in the middle of a war (even though this 'berg is nowhere near the front lines), and finally it was probably the Ukes doing it to themselves...

It's almost as if all the Putin shills have the exact same script to parrot from. We know what they're going to say, before you say it.

Reminds me of the bullshit after MH17 was shot down. Russia denied it was at all possible they did it, before saying they'd look into it, before admitting it happened, before blaming someone else for it, before having the case against it proved, before all its shills kept tripping each other up with contradictory lies.

The Mariupol Hospital incident is another one. Remember that?

Dmitry Peskov (denying): "Russian forces do not fire on civilian targets."

Igor Konashenkov (denying): "The alleged air strike was completely a staged provocation."

Sergei Lavrov (deflecting in Antalya, Turkey): "This maternity hospital had long been captured by the Azov battalion and other radicals, all women in labor, all nurses, and in general, all the staff were expelled from there."

Russian Embassy, UK (deflecting): "Plus, she [one of the pregnant women] could not be in the maternity house at the time of the strike, as it has long been taken by the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion who told all the staff to clear the place."

Vasily Nebenzya to UN Security Council (deflecting): "The Ukrainian military, according to local residents, had driven out all personnel from Mariupol’s maternity hospital N.1 to convert it to a combat position."

Dr. Lyudmila Mykhailenko (one of 3 doctors who worked that day): "With just one blow, there was simply nothing, no children’s clinic, it was simply blown away."

Or, the short version:
Good god no, we would never do anything like that... well, someone did it but it certainly wasn't us... well actually yes it was us but we thought it was a legitimate target because some random anonymous source told us so weeks ago... Bloody locals gave us the wrong intel..."

When you examine the Russian deflections after they've lost the ability to issue a credible denial, it's always a textbook example of a circular blame game: person A told person B who told person C who told person A. At no point can you ever identify a person other than A, B or C, so you can't ever work out who lied first. But it is patently clear when all three are lying because they've been told to lie.

They'll do the same with the mall bombing. It's pretty obvious the mall was not hit by Ukrainian weapons. Watch as Russia firstly accuses the whole thing of being staged until someone provides proof it wasn't, then they'll accuse the building of being attacked by Uke militants despite the militants being nowhere near there, then they'll say actually it was a near-empty hold-out for Uke militants despite it being nowhere near the front lines, and finally they'll admit they fired the rockets but were actually trying to hit a building nearby or some similar form of utter bollocks.

Basically, Putin's Russia is a graduate of the Vicky Pollard school of deflection and the intention is just to wear people down with "Yeah but no but it wasn't me it was those guys, or maybe them guys, but actually it was me but it was their fault because she said that he said that they said..."

I believe this was a Daily Beast article. They are somewhere between The National Enquirer and the Weekly World News.

I take what they say, flip it 180 degrees and am much closer to anything near the truth.

That is the thinking that led India and Pakistan to go nuclear. And it drives the thinking of North Korea and Iran. Saddam and Khadaffi would still be in power if they had had nukes.

Of course the Ukrainian nukes were really Soviet nukes. Make of that what you will.
