The vote to overturn Roe v. Wade was 5-4. Alito wrote the majority opinion, joined by Thomas, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett.
The vote to uphold Mississippi’s abortion restriction was 6-3. Roberts voted with the majority for that outcome, but he said in a separate opinion that he would not have overturned Roe.

I wonder if Mitch ever thought overturning Roe v. Wade was possible?
I think right now he’s thinking “Oh God, what have I done?”
Great, Correct, Wise Choice, by the USA Supreme Court.
Abortion is truly an issue for each state to resolve through their legislators. Should be interesting to see how Useless, Moron, Democra,t Fake, POTUS.Joe Biden handles this one!!!
18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’[a] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.
The dude is such a wuss.
We must co ordinate to shame the abortion states next.
The ruling specifically said this had nothing to due with homo marriage.
I like that.
“ALITO, J., delivered the opinion of the Court, in which THOMAS, GORSUCH, KAVANAUGH, and BARRETT, JJ., joined. THOMAS, J., and KAVANAUGH, J., filed concurring opinions. ROBERTS, C. J., filed an opinion concurring in the judgment. BREYER, SOTOMAYOR, and KAGAN, JJ., filed a dissenting opinion.”
ROBERTS, C. J., filed an opinion concurring in the judgment.
He voted FOR IT!
6-3
BREYER, SOTOMAYOR, and KAGAN, JJ., filed a dissenting opinion.
The THREE Liberals voted AGAINST it, 3 NOT 4
concurring means YES
dissenting means NO
6-3
“Finally! After millions of babies slaughtered needlessly.”
You do realize that this will not put much of a dent on the number of abortions, right?
This was more a states rights decision than an abortion decision. In liberal states abortions will be as available as ever, some conservative states will most likely restrict it in their states, but women who want to abort can simply take a drive to the nearest neighboring state and get one.
I don’t see that number dropping significantly.
Having said all that, I’m very happy with the decision since I believe most laws should be made at the state or local level - gives a chance for people to vote with their feet if they don’t like the laws implemented in their state.
The 3 women, Murkowski, Collins and Romney, are probably knocking on his door yelling as we speak.
Kavanaugh or Gorsuch? I’d guess the former.
Because of the Tenth Amendment, this particular issue is purely a state by state decision. Even if Congress passed an amendment, two-thirds of the states would have to ratify it. Not possible. Congress can't do shit.

This decision says nothing about birthing persons, so it further gives legal basis for what a woman and by extension the definition of what man is.

Can challenges to Obergfell be far behind? I doubt that many people will want 50 years of gay marriage to go by.

Maybe ‘gay marriage ‘ is next to be struck down, using Jumper’s reasoning.
Roberts really didn’t. He concurred in the judgement only. His separate opinion clearly states that the majority goes too far in overturning Roe. Roberts would have limited the decision to removing the “viability” standard and not defined what line exists for states to limit abortion. That would have resulted in massive amounts of future litigation and the various Circuit courts would still be the ones deciding. Roberts is a wuss! Kavangaugh’s concurring opinion notes that the issue should be decided by the people and their elected representatives. The majority 5 in this case did just that. Roberts’ position would have still left this up to the courts.
I’m going with 5-4 as there are 5 names in the majority opinion, but will defer to lawyers for the official count.
Close to half will. The current prediction is 24.

Biden's notes: "YOU enter the Roosevelt Room and say hello to participants," the first bullet point read. "YOU take YOUR seat."
After a bullet point that said, "Press enters," the next one read, "YOU give brief comments," with a parenthetical statement reading, "2 minutes." Biden ended up speaking for roughly eight minutes.
Once when the "Press departs," Biden was then told, "YOU ask Liz Shuler, President, AFL-CIO, a question," with a note that Shuler was "joining virtually."
Ever wonder how the corrup liars in 'the press' would have reacted if Trump had been handed a list like the above? Effing press toadies.
Insurrection to come. Paging Cheney!
I'd kinda like a new (free) tv, so please advise when the looting starts too!
