Chicago’s wealthiest man is saying farewell to the Democrat-governed state of Illinois.
Hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin is moving his company to the state of Florida.
Griffin, whose net worth is almost $29 billion, announced that he had personally moved his residence from Illinois to the Republican-governed sunshine state in a Thursday letter to his employees.
Griffin said that Florida would become the new primary home of his company, Citadel Securities. The investor touted Florida’s business environment.

He’s leaving also because the guy who’s campaign for governor he sank MILLIONS of dollars into is going to lose the Republican primary badly.
Ken Griffin cannot pick political winners of his life depended on it.
So did Boeing and caterpillar
He has the right enemies though.
And property tax is about half for similarly priced house.
Always nice to hear a positive story. Thanks.
His agenda is conservative.
If I could move my real estate holdings out of Illinois I’d do it in a minute.
Do a 1031 exchange.
The list of companies that have moved out of HELLINOIS is pretty large by now. First one I can remember that started the trend was Jimmy John's. They were located in Southern Illinois, and up 'n moved when then Gov. Pat Quinn started raising corporate taxes here and then went after jacking up the minimum wage. Jimmy John's closed up shop in IL one day and was in FL the next.
At first I thought Pritzker and was going to call the governor’s office to request he stop him.

Some of us really want out but don’t have the resources. I’ve been saving for a decade, and I have nowhere near enough to leave. What I do have has been slashed by a third thanks to Biden and his inflationist, destructive policies. I’m on a fixed income and have several serious medical conditions, so finding a job that pays well kind of isn’t an option.
My husband hasn’t been able to put much away either. The lower classes are trapped, paying huge taxes which prevent them from saving and thus fleeing. Once the upper classes are gone, we’re the only ones left to milk, and the rulers don’t seem to care.
He has some very sculpted and colored eyebrows.
I like Florida too but the cost of living is too damn high.
