A plane arriving from Santo Domingo at Miami International Airport caught on fire after it made a crash landing, tearing through a communications tower and a small building.

The Red Air civilian transport aircraft flight 203 made an emergency landing at around 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, after attempting to land at the airport and something went potentially wrong with the landing gear.

About 140 people and 11 crew members were on board the plane.

The plane collided with several objects and steered off the runaway into the grassy area between the runway and the taxi way.

A communications/radar tower that was standing in its path was taken out by the plane, along with a small building in the area. The tower could be seen wrapped around the right wing of the plane, where the fire also ignited.

Now if Miami Dade Airport would stop building towers and buildings on the runway, so they get hit by aircraft.

What bad reporting! Why not - A plane missed its approach and the runway, and hit the GCA towers and building?

Can’t tell it there, but early on there were serious looking
flames and a lot of smoke.

The plane looks pretty clean there.

I did not know that any MD-80s were still carrying passengers.

The insurance payout will probably increase the value of the company.

The accident appears to have completely destroyed the aircraft, which carried the registration HI1064. According to Cirium fleets data, the airframe was 31.5 years old.

A video showing the landing does look very dramatic, for sure.

The pucker factor when sitting at the back of the plane, and seeing flames rushing past during the landing ...

I think this is the first American air crash since a commuter prop crashed on approach to Buffalo due to ice build-up in 2004.

Yeah, pucker factor indeed...

I wouldn’t have thought it was destroyed from the photo at
the link, but seeing the other photos I can.

Southwest Airlines did have a turbine fan explode a decade ago but the plane landed safely (except for one passenger).

There have certainly been very few US air accidents in the last few decades.

Look up the news on your favorite search engine. Type in “mysterious deaths” and “Dominican Republic”. Lots of strange things going on there.

Tourists, government Ministers, etc. dying in all kinds of unexplained ways.

Red Air Miami Landing June 21

This is the twitter feed, as far back as I can trace.

I do not like to post links to fake news websites, and can't post many legit ones, but this looks like the one video all others reference.
