Russia Claims NATO Ally Lithuania Is Blockading Kaliningrad, Warns it Will Respond

Russia warned Monday that it would take action to protect its national interests if Lithuania did not reverse a decision to bar the transit by rail of certain items destined for Kaliningrad, the small Russian exclave that is separated from the rest of the country by the Baltic states.

A new potential flashpoint between Moscow and NATO emerged when Lithuania, citing incoming European Union sanctions on Russian steel and other ferrous metals, said those items could no longer be transported across its territory to Kaliningrad.

Russia’s foreign ministry said it summoned a senior Lithuanian diplomat and informed her Russia viewed the actions as “openly hostile.”

It said the ministry had informed charge d’affaires Virginija Umbrasiene “that if in the near future cargo transit between the Kaliningrad region and the rest of the territory of the Russian Federation through Lithuania is not restored in full, then Russia reserves the right to take actions to protect its national interests.

The elites want a world war. The childishly emotional idiots on the Internet think war is cool. They fail to see they are the ones the elites want dead. They’re too stupid to live and serve no purpose. They are easily lead to slaughter.

Exactly. Today’s socialist, LGBT “West” is not your grandfather’s West.

>>>Kaliningrad is not “cut off from everything.” The sanctions apply only to certain industrial products, which Russia is still free to.bring in by shipping.<<<

Put into terms even a moron can understand:

/// Your house is not “cut off from everything.” Only electricity. We’re still going to keep your water pipes open (for now). You are still free to put solar panels on your roof. ///

My God, the level of IDIOCY on Free Republic is just stunning.

As our idiot leaders stumble their way into Nuclear World War.

At least in 1914, the idiots “only” condemned millions to death in the trenches.

This time, the nukes will fly far and wide.

So the blockade of the RR corridor is being used to instigate a Russian “attack” in order to justify a total NATO vs Russia war.

This is the Big Lie being pushed by Russia disinformation.

Russia is not going to attack Lithuania. That would pull NATO into the war in Ukraine, which is the absolute last thing Russia wants or needs. Russian knows it, and NATo knows it. NATO has a vastly superior strategic position, and Russia already has all can handle with the war in Ukraine.

Because Russia is powerless to do anything about those actions, the only weapon it has is propaganda. So, they are trying to kill the EU/NATO sanctions by promoting the bogus idea that they'll start World War 3.

Assuming Russia truly is winning in Ukraine, why the hell would they risk snatching defeat from the jaws of victory by pulling in NATO, simply to get some industrial materials to Kaliningrad? It makes zero sense, but the pro-Russian lobby is pushing that narrative anyway because they are rooting for Russia's expansion and success.

Sweet, WWIII. This should end wonderfully.
Fewer shortages after nuclear war…

NATO is obsolete and has become the military arm of the Globalists.

Agreed, but Russia can avoid this oblivious NATO trap by using shipping to get supplies to Kaliningrad.

That’s complete crap. Cutting off shipments of coal, metals, construction materials and advanced technology is not even in the same universe as cutting off electricity to a home.

I live about 100 miles from one of the biggest and most critical nuclear targets in the USA: King’s Bay GA, home of our east coast SSBNs. (The other such base is Naval Base Kitsap on Puget Sound in Washington State.)

If Russia fires just 10 nukes at America, King’s Bay will get at least one, and so will Kitsap. At any time, several SSBNs are in each sub base, each sub containing a nuclear reactor and dozens of MIRVed ICBM warheads. Plus extra warheads in bunkers etc. That is a lot of plutonium that is going to go up in the mushroom cloud.

Depending on wind direction over the following days, it will create a nuclear wasteland when that plutonium dust settles down to earth. Think of the Russian nuclear explosion as just the detonator for a massive “dirty bomb.”

Jacksonville, Atlanta, you name it, a huge swath could be rendered unsafe for humans. I am not casual about nuclear war. No jokes about the Russians taking out our Blue Hives. They will for sure target King’s Bay GA and Kitsap WA, and that will be horrible when all that nuclear material goes up and comes down across American cities, towns, watersheds and farm fields.

We’re NATO and are clearly looking to pick a fight.
I don’t think Lithuania is doing this on its own account.

It would probably start with Tactical Nukes.

You are a f#cking idiot, laughing and dancing like a retard on our way to nuclear world war like it’s a game.

The cheering soldiers on the troop trains in June 1914 didn’t know any better about what lay ahead.

You don’t have that excuse.

Russia has in writing declared they will never initiate the first use of ANY nuclear weapons, and will only do so in reaction to a foreign nuclear first strike against Russia, and then only if the very existence of Russia is at stake.

America and NATO have not made a similar policy declaration.

Take it for what you will.

Russia has a no first use policy on nukes, so if nukes are used it will be NATO that uses them. Air fuel bombs have made tactical nukes almost unnecessary.

“Also, the quality of “thinking” by many freepers is very child like.

No different than eager new recruits on troop trains heading towards the coming war in Europe circa June 1914.

“Hooray! We’ll teach those Germans a lesson, and be home for Christmas!”

Only this time, the horror won’t be confined to trench warfare, but could easily escalate to full nuclear war.”

You are exactly right. There’s an element here that is refusing to think. They can’t comprehend that Russia is not the USSR, that Western European countries are increasingly totalitarian socialist states, that the WEF believes that the West will defeat Russia (or cause regime change), which will help usher in the “utopia” of the Great Reset, or that the Biden Crime Family and its neocons need a distraction to divert the public’s attention from what is happening here.

WW I was, indeed, stumbled into, and no one foresaw the horror. In this case, though, it looks like the irresponsible “leaders” in the West are trying to provoke WW III.

Yeah, but I think King’s Bay is unique in that it is a top priority target, with 100s of warheads located there at any time. Take out Kings Bay, and those in-port SSBNs will never present a threat to Russia. And the at-sea SSBNs will never get a reload, not when King’s Bay is turned into a radioactive lagoon.

The elites want a world war.

That's ridiculous. Everyone loses in a world war.

The lack of analytical consistency among you people is amazing. You -correctly - point out that the leftist elites in Europe are highly invested in green energy and ending global reliance on fossil fuels. That has been perhaps the single biggest point of emphasis of the European left over the last few decades.

The war in Russia is having the exact opposite effect. Several countries in Europe already have announced that they are going to be using greater amounts of coal, which is the dirtiest of the fossil fuels, to make up for the lack of natural gas and oil coming from Russia. Nordstrom 2, which was pushed by Schwab, Merkel, Macron, etc., is dead. Certainly, for at least as long as there are active hostilities in Europe.

The absolute last thing the global elites want is a prolonged and expanded war in Europe.

What we are actually seeing in Europe is a rather remarkable case of the elites losing control. The elites in France, Germany, etc., have been dragging their feet deliberately on providing any actual support to Ukraine. The problem for them is that their populations are much more pro-Ukraine than are the elites, and have pushed their governments to take action. The government of Poland, which is routinely blasted by the elites of western and central Europe, is the one nation that has come through the most consistently with supplying Ukraine.

The elites hate this war, but their populations hate Russia more, so the elites are stuck.
