Russia's Baltic Sea exclave of Kaliningrad, sandwiched between Lithuania and Poland, became part of the Soviet Union after World War II. It has a population of about 430,000 people and hosts the headquarters of Russia's Baltic sea fleet.

The EU sanctions list includes coal, metals, construction materials, and advanced technology.
Anton Alikhanov, the governor of the Russian oblast, said the ban would cover around 50 percent of the items that Kaliningrad imports.
Alikhanov said the region, which has an ice-free port on the Baltic Sea, will call on Russian federal authorities to take tit-for-tat measures against the EU country for imposing the ban. He said he would also seek to have more goods sent by ship to the oblast.

If Lithuania wants to provoke war with Russia that’s their business.
Just leave the USA out of it.
Lithuania. NATO member with a whopping 15,000 active duty force.
Hmmm...just how much of Lithuania fronts on the North Atlantic?
Too late: Article V still applies. I have to admire the Lithuanians for managing to tweak the bear and the Brussels hypocrites both at the same time.
I doubt Putin takes the bait, as he has tons of options short of taking action against NATO (which is what the Neocons want, given Biden’s collapse in the Midterm polling).
Just today the families of 50 generals and officers meeting in Central Ukraine (probably with a ton of Westerners there) found out that Russia does indeed have high-precision cruise missiles...probably a message for the Lithuanian stunt.
Trash talking Baltic drunks trying to pull the US and NATO into a war.
If Lithuania wants to provoke war with Russia that’s their business.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize someone much “bigger” is advising Lithuania to “ escalate”. The US build up there ( troops) prior to this conflict stinks of NATO or western escalation. The Biden war cheerleaders most likely have not thought this out.
Keep in mind Lithuanian “ leadership” fully bought into senile Joe’s previous C flu mandates and totally shut down their nation and forced the non vaxed to get fired for not taking the jabs…sad to say, Lithuania, since joining the EU and NATO have bought into much of the left wing narrative. Being of Lithuanian descent, I can say there will be a very rude awakening. Their leadership is leading them astray. there is still time for them to turn back, but not likely.
“ Although homosexuality was decriminalised in 1993, the historic legacy has only resulted in rights for LGBT people that are limited at best. Protection against discrimination was legislated for as part of the criteria for European Union accession and in 2010 ….”
All that said, I fully expect Vlad to Checkmate senile Joe- again.
Pragerti!
Article 5 does not kick in if Lithuanians or Poles attack someone. Anyway, article 5 does not obligate anyone to go to war. It says other nations may “take whatever actions they deem appropriate”. That can include a protest letter.
Article 5 still applies, even if it's blowback from out of area operations: the US invoked it after 9/11 to get European AWACS flying in the US, so the precedent is already set.
There’s a report that supplies will be ferried in. I dunno if the Ukrainians or whoever would attack the ships.
Whatever actions Russia may choose to take will be economic because they have no viable military options.
The reality is that Russia is not going to start a war with a NATO country unless that country commits active troops in Ukraine itself. Sanctions, closing borders, etc., aren't going to do it because Russia knows that is the surest way to guarantee defeat in Ukraine.
They're obviously are some within the United States who would want us to commit forces to Ukraine, but there isn't nearly enough political support for that to happen or it already would have. In fact, the only reason we are seeing economic measures being taken against Russia is because of the acknowledgment that we won't be taking any military measures.
Economic sanctions, isolation and exclusion from affairs elsewhere in Europe is the price Russia is going to pay for invading Ukraine.
Europe’s ween off the tit of Mother Russia is going to make screaming babies.
my suspicion was similar, the timing was either intentional or very convenient target of opportunity.
have to wonder how many NATO personnel were present.
