Police are responding to reports of shots fired at Tysons Corner Center in Virginia.
Fairfax County police say that there is no active shooter situation at this time, but the mall has been closed as they clear the area and investigate.
According to initial reports from police, a fight broke out between a small group, when a man described as a Black male wearing a black hoodie and jeans brandished a firearm and discharged it.
There have been no reports of injuries. Police advise people to avoid the area as they respond to the situation.
On Twitter, FCPD says there are no reports of an active shooter at this time, and that they are clearing the mall to ensure suspects are no longer present.
As events unfolded Saturday afternoon, employees and shoppers fled the mall as gunshots were heard. Some of the initial panic was captured by users on Twitter.
After the mall was cleared, crowds remained outside the awaiting news from the police, and the status of those who had been inside the mall.

That is an upscale area.
Served by public transportation
Both true. Tyson’s was the first DC area mega mall and many melanists do like come to ‘hang out’ especially on weekends.
Black male with hoodie on a hot summer day should frisked by police. Profiling? U betcha.
I thought Tysons Corner Mall went out of business years ago.
That was Landmark Mall in Alexandria
EXACTLY, and it’s no trouble at all to get from the DC housing to it. Just a Metro ride and an afternoon of AC, fun and whatever.....
Just had this discussion with a stocker in the grocery store the other night, who informed me that there was no bottled water to be had because the feds were buying it all and sending it overseas.
Then we started talking about the two extremely unusual “mass shootings” locally.
We made a bet on how many more there would be, between now and November.
Leftist cesspool-ville. Go figure.
I remember when (1980s) the Tysons Corner Mall was almost a national treasure...
Leakage from DC ruined it (and every other mall in this VA-MD area)
I’ve never been to that one.
Tysons, I went to *years* ago because that’s where the only Borders Books was, at the time.
I think I went to White Flint mall for their Borders, too, then we got one years later and I never went back.
And now Borders is gone everywhere so I have no reason to care.

What did the produce mgr have to say about this?
True. Some were overwhelmed early. I read that Iverson Mall recently closed. I thought it bit the dust long ago, Maybe confused it with the mall on Marlow Road. The parking lot had a physically overpowering stench of vomit and urine in mildly warm weather.
diversity has consequences
“According to initial reports from police, a fight broke out between a small group, when a man described as a Black male wearing a black hoodie and jeans brandished a firearm and discharged it.”
Who are we to judge the celebratory customs of other cultures in our brightly colored panoply of diversity?
