A 66-year-old male blood donor turned away from the clinic after refusing to answer a question about whether he was pregnant as part of a pre-donation questionnaire.
Male donor denied admission after he refused to tell if she was pregnant
For nearly 50 years, Leslie Sinclair has transfused an impressive 125 pints of blood.
After complaining, he said the staff told him they couldn’t accept his blood donation.
For nearly 50 years, Leslie Sinclair has transfused an impressive 125 pints of blood.
But his last trip was turned down after he refused to answer a question about whether he was pregnant or not.
Sinclair, 66, was ordered to fill out a form asking if he was expecting a baby or if he had been pregnant within the past six months.
When he complained that, as a man in his 60s, the question was inappropriate and that he should not answer it, Mr. Sinclair said the clinic staff told him that they could not accept his blood.
Leslie Sinclair, 66, was ordered to fill out a form asking if he was expecting a baby or if he had been pregnant within the past six months.
It emerged last night that all potential donors are being asked if they are pregnant to “promote inclusiveness” and because pregnancy “is not always visually clear.”
The standoff came as NHS England launched a campaign earlier this week to recruit another million blood donors over the next five years after numbers dwindled during the pandemic. The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) launched a campaign earlier this month to find 16,000 new donors next year.
It emerged last night that all potential donors are being asked if they are pregnant to “promote inclusion” and because pregnancy “is not always visually clear.”
Angered by the refusal to take his blood, Mr. Sinclair left and last night spoke of his disappointment at the “meaningless” decision.
The father-of-two from Stirling in central Scotland said: “I am angry because I have been donating blood since I was 18 and I go with it regularly. I am very happy to do it without any problem.
“There is always a form to fill out and that’s fine – they tend to ask about health conditions or illnesses – and it’s clear that the blood has to be safe. This time there was a question I hadn’t seen before: “Are you pregnant or have you been in the last six months?” which required a yes or no answer.
“I indicated to the staff that I could not be in this position, but they told me that I must answer, otherwise I would not be able to donate blood.
“I told them that it was stupid and that if I had to leave I would not come back and that was it, I got on my bike and left.
“It makes no sense and makes me angry because there are vulnerable people who are waiting for blood, including children, and are in desperate need of help. But they were denied my blood because of the obligation to answer a question that cannot be answered.
Mr Sinclair said: “They were denied my blood because of an obligation to answer a question that cannot be answered.”
Mr Sinclair said his wife Margaret, 59, was also shocked, adding: “She just can’t figure it out either.” Pregnant women must wait six months after giving birth to donate blood. Mr. Sinclair, a former engineering company driver, went to the Albert Hall in Stirling on Wednesday to donate blood.
Last night Professor Mark Turner, Director of SNBTS, said: “We appreciate the support of everyone in our donor community and thank Mr. Sinclair for his commitment over the years. While the issue of pregnancy is only relevant for those whose biological or birth sex is female, the gender assigned at birth is not always visually clear to staff.
“As a public body, we are aware of changes in society in how such questions can be asked without discrimination and have a duty to promote inclusion – so all donors are now being asked the same questions.”
Why is everything repeated four or five times in FR excerpts lately? There is a trend lately where everything in the excerpts is repeated four or five times.
On Free Republic posts, everything is repeated four or five times, and FReepers are asking why.
6/18/2022 - FReepers are asking “Why is everything repeated four or five times in these excerpts lately? There is a trend lately where everything in the excerpts is repeated four or five times.”
FReepers wondered why everything has to be repeated.
What part of following the agenda do you not understand?
They don’t want your blood or care how loyal you are.
They don’t care about you.
Now you just go over there and congregate with all the bovine spongiform encephalopathy bitches that can’t donate either.
Mooooooo!
(I’m no longer astounded at the rampant insanity. It seems to be pandemic now)
Sign of the coming Tribulation; Sign of the Times.
This sort of ridiculous error is why I say Satan’s spirit of antichrist is preparing the world for the debut of Satan’s anti-messiah.
First, a Peace and Security deal for 7 years. And by peace shall he destroy many.
Daniel 8:23-25
King James Version
23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.
24 And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power: and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practise, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people.
25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

obligation to answer a question that cannot be answered
why could he not answer - No
I was half-expecting him to be arrested for a “hate crime” for refusing to play along with their game.
““It makes no sense and makes me angry because there are vulnerable people who are waiting for blood, including children, and are in desperate need of help. But they were denied my blood because of the obligation to answer a question that cannot be answered.”
It can be answered easily: no.
He withheld his blood so no crocodile tears.
Blind stupid & spineless.
What is the definition of a man?
If there’s doubt, whip it out!
I don’t quite see what influence the U.S. Supreme Court has over Scotland’s Red Cross.
I had a radiology tech ask me that about a year ago. I simply replied, “well, I haven’t had my period this month,” and left it at that.
Once many years ago, I answered “yes” to that question (I wasn’t paying attention)
They have been asking this for at least 40 years and not being that flexible.
I don’t think this is a woke situation here, just their being inflexible.
Ok....
Get your blood elsewhere... bye.
I’ve been asked exactly that question at several of my donations. I refused to answer that question telling them that this was anti-science, anti-Christian and insulting to me. Fortunately they filled in the answer themselves and we proceeded. I’m eligible for my 51st pint at this blood center next week. This might be interesting.
N/A was the right answer
I am still laughing.
Bob Hope and Leslie Nielson might disagree...
He could have said that he had a baby a few years ago and the pain of passing the baby through his penis was so terribly unbearable and did so much damage that since the birth of his 10 pound son, he is unable to have sex at all.
Hes an old man in his 60s. This is England, he looks like what you’d expect such a man to look like in his 60s. Theres no ambiguity there at all. Further hes IN HIS 60s.
No one is bouncing around preggers in HIS 60s!!!!
This is just woke socialist orwellian idiocy. Meant to do just what happened here. If people don’t have to put up with the woketardiness, the sane people leave, and TPTB don’t care because they don’t care if their idiocy winds up hurting other people. They hope it does. Either to exploit one way or another or drops the population down.
